Pray for Jessica Hahn

Postby Descendant of Jacob on July 15th, 2005, 1:18 am

I recommend that every christian pray for Jessica Hahn that she would become a Christian and experience the healing that God can give her.

Jessica appears to have had a very tormented life.

Bless her heart!
Claim To Fame: Jessica Hahn was the dish televangilist Jim Bakker was found to be having an affair with in 1987. Hahn's star rose as Bakker's house of cards crumbled, being outed on the affair just prior to being hit with conspiracy and wire fraud charges. Bakker went to prison (45 years later reduced to 8), Hahn went on the cover of Playboy magazine and a brief soft-porn/pinup career.

Bakker was introduced to her by her then preacher boss who was also having an affair with her. "Bakker confessed that he had paid $265,000 in hush money to cover up an afternoon of adultery in 1980 with Jessica Hahn ... On the day in 1980 in Florida when, according to Hahn, Bakker and his companion, Evangelist John Wesley Fletcher, had intercourse with her, a PTL staffer then attempted to do the same, and Bakker later asked the third man, "Did you get her too?" Said Falwell: "That made my blood boil." Falwell-installed auditors subsequently discovered that the $265,000 in hush money had been siphoned from PTL accounts through a false billing." [1]

What is your evidence for that?

What about the fruit?

I recommend you read the Sermon on the Mount especially all of chapter 7.

Why? Why do you believe that? How credible is the source?

Oh, you mean that New Testament book? I am Jewish and do not believe that, as those are the writings about a false prophet. I do not believe that you can find salvation through Jesus as I do not believe He was the true Messiah.
Find me something believable to read.

What do you mean by salvation? Just curious. I don't know what the Jewish interpretation is.

I was actually using the term in a Christian context (there are other secular meanings).

redemption: (Christianity) the act of delivering from sin or saving from evil

There is no Jewish interpretation as we await the Messiah for the answers to such questions. There are just "indications" what the Messiah will "bring to the table" in the Old Testament.

A surprisingly good source of information about Judiasm is found in the easy to read "Jewish for Dummies". There are many "ask the Rabbi (teacher)" sites, but they tend to be rather Orthodox in nature and not my personal interpretation of "what is or ought to be".

I bet you would find the Jewish for Dummies book rather entertaining and non-offensive. hey...I can get it for you wholesale, who knew?

If you continue with your fascination of Judaic Law, there are many entertaining yet informative sites I can send your way. There are many Jewish humor sites, MANY Jewish cooking sites and many informative sites.
I could also refer you to a few Yiddish/English translation sites and you will discover all the words you have been using that you had no idea were Yiddish or Semitic in origin.

You might even discover I am a nice guy when confronted with nice questions and stimulating discussion. How 'bout that! (no smirking smilies back please.....)

I have even recently thought about changing my persona here on this site, not in name, but in attitude. Perhaps by dropping all ad-hominems and give my personal logical responses no matter who (even Ticker) attacks me. It may get rather dry and very repetitive when I answer tj's responses with dull, yet medically correct answers. But if I "dumb them down a lot" perhaps she will start to understand! (sorry, could help that one, too easy). This would be in a response to (hey, you admitted it) the dismal failure of everyone to be civil here. Perhaps by leading by example will convert the "sinners". Besides, the big buildup on this board was with the TS case, and that has been clearly decided. yes, even the Red Sox won the championship..... so didn't Lanny, Confused and me. Not to rub it in, mind you!

The whole message.

Thank you for the information about Judaism. I only have a superficial knowledge of it. My brother-in-law became Jewish, and I have wondered what it was that attracted him to it--besides his wife.

And thank you for wanting to be a nice guy here.
