Rep. Will Hurd has called for a full investigation into the whistleblower complaint that alleged President Trump attempted to push a foreign government to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden.
Hurd, a Texas Republican, has a background in the intelligence community, serving in the CIA before being elected to his House spot in 2015. Hurd announced his retirement from the House on Aug. 1 and will not run for reelection.
Hurd weighed in on the whistleblower complaint that has started a firestorm on Capitol Hill and incentivized Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to back impeachment proceedings against Trump on Monday. The complaint was released to the public on Thursday morning.
“There is a lot in the whistleblower complaint that is concerning. We need to fully investigate all of the allegations addressed in the letter, and the first step is to talk to the whistleblower,” Hurd said after the complaint was released.
