Holiday blues; Opus Dei priest endorses condom use?

So we're in the midst of, to quote the old Christmas song, "the most wonderful time of the year"? Well, religiously speaking, Christmas is indeed a wonderful time. As is Easter.

That said, I wish I could experience the joy that some are experiencing. For me, the holidays — particularly the period between Thanksgiving and Christmas — have been a time of depression and stress. I could sit here and write all the pious platitudes in the world, but it would simply mask the reality that it's been extremely difficult for me to experience true joy and peace in this "valley of tears" in which we live, especially, but not exclusively, now. I'm sure I'm not alone in this feeling.

Also, I'm convinced that the prayers of others have kept me going over the years. Alright, enough of the pity-party. Pray for me ... and for those who are suffering far more than I.

Steve Kellmeyer has an interesting analysis of a recent interview in Our Sunday Visitor with an Opus Dei theologian who appears to espouse a morally problematic view of condom use. Click here to read the analysis.
