You and me against the brave new world
By Chuck Baldwin

With almost complete unanimity, the two major parties are walking in lock-step in their support for President Bush's efforts to merge the United States into a trilateral hemispheric government with Mexico and Canada. In addition, for the most part, the major media (including Fox News) remains virtually silent on the subject. Furthermore, most every major Christian leader remains silent also. Yes, Martha, America is on the verge of losing its national sovereignty and independence, and the vast majority of our country's leaders (of any kind) sit mute and unmoved!

I realize, of course, that there are many people who are alert and openly concerned about Bush's proposed North American Union. However, seldom do these people have the opportunity to voice their concerns to national audiences. Therefore, people such as you and me are confined to writing columns for Internet news services and small papers or speaking to small market radio stations or short wave radio audiences. For the most part, we are totally ignored by anyone with a national platform. Happily, there are exceptions.

There is one person in the mainstream media that has stepped up to the plate in defense of America's independence, and that man is CNN's Lou Dobbs. I invite readers to watch Dobbs' recent broadcast in which he attempts to alert the American people to the impending surrender of our sovereignty (Go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueAdeZuns3A).

On Capitol Hill, there are two men vocally opposing Bush's proposed North American Union and that is Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo and Texas Congressman Ron Paul. Two men out of 435 House members and 100 senators!

In the literary world, Jerome Corsi is carrying the torch for America's independence. His columns exposing Bush's proposed North American Union regularly appear in Human Events (http://www.humaneventsonline.com/) and World Net Daily (http://www.worldnetdaily.com/). And once again, I invite readers to listen to my radio interview with Dr. Corsi at http://www.chuckbaldwinlive.com/Interview_Corsi.html.

Except for the abovementioned names, there are precious few speaking out against Bush's North American Union.

Thank God for radio talk show hosts such as Barbara Jean Whiteley (http://www.k-talk.com/ns/Hosts.asp), and Dr. Stanley Monteith (http://www.radioliberty.com/), news magazines such as The New American (http://www.thenewamerican.com/artman/publish/cat_index_63.shtml), Internet News publishers such as Paul Walter at News With Views (http://newswithviews.com/), and conservative leaders such as Howard Phillips (http://www.howardphillips.com/), Alan Keyes (http://www.renewamerica.com/), and Phyllis Schlafly (http://www.eagleforum.org/).

I wish I could list the names of prominent conservative Christian leaders in the above hall of fame, but, sadly, I cannot. For whatever reason, national leaders of the Religious Right have become little more than toadies for President Bush. As a result, they have lost the power, courage, and conviction they once had and can no longer be trusted to be watchmen on the wall for America's sovereignty and independence.

That leaves you and me against the Brave New World (to borrow Aldous Huxley's term)! Makes one feel rather lonely, doesn't it? However, never forget that God plus one equals a majority! Besides, as Peter Marshall said, "I would rather fail at a cause that will ultimately succeed than succeed at a cause that will ultimately fail." I also share the strong conviction of William Barret Travis who said at the Alamo, "God is on our side."

If over thirty-five years as a student of the Bible and American history has taught me anything, it has taught me that when it comes to fighting for liberty and independence, God is on our side! Therefore, I gladly join those of you, who like the abovementioned people, are willing to fight and even die in the battle for America's national sovereignty and independence!
