More on the blood red moons -- the tetrads are not biblical signs

It amazes me that every day more hype and excitement is added to the upcoming business of the tetrads. The four blood red moons are an astronomical event that is aligned to Jewish celebrations such as the Feast of Trumpets, Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles.

Pastor John Hagee's books and messages has everyone buzzing and that is why I addressed this phenomenon in my article "Four Blood Moons – Let's Stop the Hype"

I have poured over these events much further than I care to and my conclusions are always the same – beware!

I don't need to add very much to what I have already said in my articles, but three significant points should be emphatically reiterated.

1.) If astronomical signs that can be determined by ordinary science are the fulfillment of the second coming signs of the return of the Lord Jesus Christ, then there is not one stitch of truth to the words of our Lord's proclamation that no man will know the day or the hour of his return.

"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." (Mt 24: 36)

Bestselling books, astronomical events and nothing else can overtake or over-ride the authority of the scripture on this point.

2.) The upcoming tetrads are not accompanied by solar eclipses! The solar eclipses do not take place until 2015 and they do not occur in unison with the lunar eclipses. This fact alone should cause every serious student of scripture to set aside the hype of the tetrads. Consider this.

"Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken." (Mt 24: 29)

The red moon and the shadowed or covered sun appear at exactly the same time to announce the return of the Lord. This is prophecy 101, no genius necessary here.

3.) Finally, let's go directly to scriptures to see that unless the interventional sign of the "Son of man" appears at the very same time as the solar and lunar effects – the entire hype of the tetrads is a side trip into hyperbole and distraction. Read it for yourself.

"And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory." (Mt 24: 30)

In summary, the danger is repeating the errors of the late Harold Camping. When these days come and go and the mystery, the hype and the titillation over them subsides what will remain except disillusionment, disappointment and more fodder for the scoffers to doubt the solid biblical massages of the scriptures.

Little wonder that the Apostle Peter had to give this warning, not about the signs of the last days, but the prevailing attitudes of those days.

"Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation." (2Pet 3: 3-4)

You will have to count me out of the race to hype the tetrads, when they have come and gone, then come back and read some more. By then we will be much closer to the second coming of Christ, but at any rate I will still remain true to scripture and not be given over to every wind of doctrine or every sign that seemingly takes place in the sun moon and stars.

"For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." (Mt 24: 24)

If we follow the pattern of tumults that follow the lunar eclipses as it pertains to Israel we may concur that troubles soon follow for Jacob after each eclipse. Even for that, it is not written in stone, but at the very least it is not to be compared with biblical prophecy.

Proceed with great caution into this latest compunction to help God perform his will in the unfolding saga we know as the second coming of Christ. He does not need our help!
