Just watched a blood red moon -- now what?

October 9, 2014

Here in the New Orleans area it was 69 degrees, slightly humid with almost no wind on the morning of October 8, 2014.

I am usually up at about 4am every morning so it was a day like any other except a short time later I noticed the moon beginning to eclipse. It took slightly under 45 minutes to complete and then a slightly reddish color, dull and barely perceptible washed across three fourths of the moon's surface. It was not very bright or overwhelmingly significant to see.

I had just witnessed a 'tetrad' one of the much anticipated 'blood red moons' that so many are buzzed about. It is supposed to be connected to Israel's feast days, past history and some sort of warning for them today.

Subjective impressions embellished by past histories can only get so much mileage and this event failed to make much of an impression on me.

Could it be connected to Israel's immediate history – perhaps?

More than likely it will pass into history for what it is – a lunar eclipse, and little else.

In several articles and reports I asked those who think these astronomical occurrences are going to affect the events of history, prophecy and specifically the State of Israel to consider very carefully that astronomy and astrology are two very different things.

More on the Blood Red Moons – The Tetrads are Not Biblical Signs

One is a recognized science and the other is a farcical means of prognosticating (predicting) events for the day or the immediate future. Astrology is strictly forbidden in the Bible. It is a means of seeking other 'headship' for guidance and it is an affront to the Lord. In the plainest sense possible – astrology is idolatry.

To the degree that we see this astronomical event as a sign of future events we are practicing idolatry.

Beware of what significance you place on the blood red moons. No doubt anything unusual that happens to Israel will now be attributed to or at the least attached to these events. It will be interesting to see what will now be associated with the blood moons.

Christ warned those who look for such signs.

"But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas." (Mt 12: 39)

The Bible makes many references to the blood red moon being a final sign at the return of the Lord such as the following.

"The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come." (Joel 2: 31)

Let's look at the major differences between the biblically predicted blood moon and the tetrads.
God is omnipotent and does not need an eclipse to cause the moon to appear blood red.

Jesus Christ physically returns to the earth in the glory of his Father at the appearing of the blood moon, it is not just a sign for Israel.

At the appearance of the blood moon, the sun will be covered and not give its full light. (Mt 24: 29)

Israel's future and her protection rest completely in the hand of the Living God not in any signs earthly or heavenly. (Zec 2: 8)
On another day in New Orleans almost fifty years ago I spent the night in prayer asking God if we were in the last generation and the events of his second coming were near. That night I saw a vison of the second coming. In part of that vision I saw the sun blocked and the moon was a brilliant red. What I saw in that vision and what I saw this morning were not to be compared.

The Vision that Started a Lifetime of Prophetic Ministry

The moon I saw in my vision was indeed red, a deep dark and blood red that appeared suddenly without an eclipse. Following that part of the vision, a living, pulsating and brilliantly glowing light (Jesus Christ) came to the earth (Jerusalem) and then I heard the people of the earth crying out in despair because they were not ready, and they were all found in unbelief.

Getting people to believe and prepare for the return of the Lord is hard enough without a vision. It is spiritually discerned, biblically based and requires a bit of application at the very least. We live in a spiritually dumbed down generation in which people cannot discern between their right hand and their left.

As an example, only this morning Fox news featured a report of a roving reporter who combed through the student body of prestigious Harvard University in Boston. He asked each of those interviewed which they thought was more of a detriment to world peace – Isis or the United States. Almost every person interviewed concluded that the U.S. was the biggest threat to world peace – not Isis.

We might say that not everyone is completely versed in geo-politics or political science but here is a case of – Duh! Good job Harvard, but this is exactly why practically no one is going to be prepared for what is about to befall our world as it pertains to basic prophecy and the return of the Lord.

I fully understand what Jesus meant when he questioned Nicodemus about his failure to understand the business of being 'born again.'

"If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?" (Jn 3: 12)

Blood moon tetrads are an "earthly" thing; it is of the terrestrial, science, human reason and perhaps even pure speculation. The biblical blood red moon connected to Christ's return is a celestial matter that affects the physical realm, but it is real.

My best advice is, seek the Lord not the signs.

"Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near." (Isa 55: 6)
