An open letter to the President

Sir, I sit here writing you this letter as I read that your approval ratings have continued their downward spiral over the last 6-8 months and just shake my head in amazement. How has it gotten this bad and how has nothing changed? Do you not care or do the people around you have blinders on to the world? I find it hard to believe that either of these are true, but please help prove me wrong. The simple fact is this Mr. President, your poll numbers are low not because we left you, but you and your administration left us.
I can offer a simple solution to a complex issue of polls and issues that will help spark your comeback. Are you ready? Are you taking notes? Here it is........................become a conservative. What's that? You're already a conservative? Could have fooled me by your spending policies. That noise you heard was Tip O'Neill reaching out from the grave to give you a pat on your back. Your protecting the border? Interesting, since you refuse to put a wall up, send down a token compliment of troops to protect it, and offer safe haven to lawbreakers and consider yourself tough on illegals. That isn't protection Mr. President.............that's appeasement.
I don't doubt you support the military Mr. President, I just question how far that commitment extends. Far enough to support those Marines in solitary confinement at Camp Pendelton? The same Marines the media has labeled guilty until proven innocent before even receiving a trial? If they can't count on their Commander in Chief now, when can they? The military needs to believe they can count on those who send them to do the awful things that are sometimes forced upon them. Can we really afford to have them second-guessing their actions when they pull the trigger?
The time is now Mr. President for you to remember what is at stake. Sadly others in the GOP have followed your lead and ventured away from their conservative roots and are living a lie that the American public is not buying. We know a fake when we see one. Standing at the door of power is a mindset that bigger government is better government, and that it isn't of the people but rather for the masses. You have done something dangerous Mr. President. You have emboldened liberals to think that their time has come. They recognize you support them in some areas, but they want the whole thing now and will stop at nothing to regain power they believe is rightly theirs. They are like rabid dogs that will not stop their attack until America is weakened into change. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR FUTURE.
Mr. President, you had our hearts when you first ran for office. You reminded us of another cowboy who blessed our country as our leader in 1980. Somehow, somewhere, something changed in you. We as a country are begging you to recapture the vision that propelled us to vote for you in 2000. We know this Mr. President............conservatism works. It has served our country well and made us the most prosperous nation on Earth. No country has survived by ever spending more than it brings in, but that is the path you are choosing for us. We beg you to remember your roots. Learn from what has made you successful before and return to that foundation. It can save this presidency for you. More importantly it can save America from what her alternative could be.
This is our final plea Mr. President. We ask that you do the will of the people who have elected you to office. You know what is right. You know what you need to do. America wants to believe in it's President and we want to believe in you. Show us now the courage you showed us as you stood on the rumble at Ground Zero. We have given you the megaphone again, and are awaiting a clear message of hope and a return to the sensibility of limited government. You have shown us the way once before and we are awaiting your leadership once again.
