The path to be chosen
By Brad Turner
As I sit here writing this article, I have just returned from the Bob Pope gun show in Smyrna, TN. I went there to help a pro-gun local candidate hand out some voter literature and meet some of the folks attending the gun show. I left after a few hours to go home and see if any of my friends wanted to head back up there with me to look at some of the firearms on display and see if there were any good deals.
I was joined by a buddy as we began to walk up and down the aisles looking at the articles of America's greatest freedom. He had brought his young son along because he, like many Americans wants his son to understand how sacred and privileged our rights are in this country. We noticed kids in their early teens talking to men who have seen the horrors of battle to protect these rights. I looked at my friend's son and at that moment realized what I knew all along. I told myself "THIS is why we fight." Standing there looking at him and thinking of my unborn daughter, I realized we are heading down a path in this country that we must turn back from or we will be finished.
Part of the joy I received from the gun show was the sheer horror it must cause liberals in their heart to see Americans expressing the rights guaranteed to them under the 2nd Amendment. I was able to sign a petition sponsored by the NRA that calls upon every American mayor and police chief to sign a pledge promising not to confiscate the firearms of law-abiding citizens during a natural disaster. We witnessed this treachery a year ago at this time as police in New Orleans moved in on law abiding citizens and robbed them of their safety net from looters.
In my opinion, what we witnessed in New Orleans is but an extension of the liberal heart and mentality. Liberals hate an armed society. Liberals hate an educated society. Liberals hate a society that says "I can do this on my own." What is the easiest way to defeat a society that is armed, educated, and free? Take away the guarantees of all 3 and you have it. Disarm them and they are no longer citizens, they are subjects. Control the educations system and you no longer have free-thinkers you have state-educated subjects by indoctrination. Slowly erode their rights and you have a collective mass.
If this sounds eerily familiar it should. It was tried before in Communist Russia and Nazi Germany. This experiment has been tried and has failed miserably. The names of the parties from the past have faded away, only to be replaced in this country by a party whose sole purpose is to make these anti-freedom positions a fixture in a free society. Democrat liberals often champion their love for a free society, but by their actions they have defined themselves as enemies of true freedom. They want God to be replaced by the state. They want to experiment again with a test that will result in total failure. Our choice is clear of what must be done to preserve what is merely a shadow of true freedom granted to us by God. Our Founding Fathers did not sacrifice their lives for us to lay down now and not fight for a true government based on constitutional principles.
None of this is to say the Republican Party has been perfect. I shudder sometimes when I hear a candidate say "I am a conservative." Do we even know what that means anymore? How did that definition get re-defined since Ronald Reagan? A conservative does not continue adding to a deficit. A conservative does not allow the free flow of illegal aliens into our country. A conservative does not think that power should be centralized in Washington DC. What has changed? Why do the two parties now sometimes appear to be only one?
Liberals have successfully allowed some of these arguments to be discussed where they are allowed to choose the wording. You see, liberals understand they cannot win the arguments by their stance on issues. In order to win, they have to redefine words to make them look as non-threatening as possible. They aren't pro-murder, they are pro-choice of a woman. They aren't anti-American, they are pro-U.N. They are pro-family, meaning gay couples can adopt and get married. They are pro-religion as long as it isn't Christians. Muslims aren't the most dangerous followers of a religion in this country. It's those darn Christians. They must be stopped. We can't allow the 10 Commandments to be displayed!
We just don't understand a liberal's mind because we are one of the masses. We aren't elite enough to lead but rather follow. They know what is best for us. We just need to trust them on this one. Government can solve all of our problems. The Constitution is an outdated document that has no relevance in this 21st century of enlightenment. How can we not see that? Let us put our trust and faith in Hilary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, and Howard Dean to make us the country that the Founding Fathers envisioned.
It's time to wake up America! Our very survival and future is at stake. We are under attack from within our government as much as we are from the southwestern border. The people who do not put America first must be stopped and kept away from power. We need a wave of true conservatism to sweep over this country and have the eyes of our citizens opened to what made this country great. Government did not make us great. Government will never make us great. The enemies of the state are trying now more than ever to gain power over the direction of our country. We are in a fight for our country's future. I urge you to do what must be done in the 2006 and 2008 elections to preserve the America that was left to us by our past generations.
Together, we can change our course of destruction to one of newfound hope, promise and responsibility we owe to those who died for this land.
