In the darkest hours of human history, God often brings great light. Thus, He has provided America with a majority of noble Supreme Court Justices willing to strike down the most illegitimate, deadly, and socially-destructive ruling in U.S. history.

O that the many pro-life leaders of earlier times years might see this day! I think of pastors, Jerry Falwell and D. James Kennedy, former President Ronald Reagan, and many, others who fought relentlessly against the evil influences of abortion but did not live to taste the sweet fruit of their ceaseless efforts.

Even as the glorious official news of the demise of Roe. v Wade hit the public, militant abortion supporters and their media generals were already hard at work concocting false narratives aimed at undermining the long-overdue decision. Others took to the streets to protest against the defense of innocent life with senseless violence and insolence.

The 1973 Roe decision, giving federal legal cover for abortion, was corrupt from every angle. It was morally wrong, legally flawed, and socially destructive, resting on unstable constitutional ground. That much, we all know. Roe cost over 60 million lives directly, and wrecked multi-millions more. It has robbed us all of the inherent value of human life created in the image of God. For nearly fifty long years, Roe has provided the de facto federal authority for parents to kill their offspring so long as the execution occurred within the womb and recently, even after birth.

Today, the righteous are rejoicing that the federal government promotion of infanticide has itself, been put to death. But it would be a greater tragedy to allow it to return even stronger. And if the abortion ideology is not opposed at every turn, it will.

Agents of evil have had decades to delude the minds of men, women, and children to accept fetal sacrifice as a civil right through media, political debate, and public education. The daunting task ahead is to reclaim the battleground and hold it.

The early leaking of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Center afforded abortion activists with a rare opportunity to devise and implement their strategy. Already, Democrat leaders and media operators are hard at work waging a multi-pronged onslaught to influence public opinion toward reversing the reversal, preying upon the gullible and the ignorant.

We must understand that libertine Democrat politicians and news media personalities are not constrained by the standards of truth and personal integrity that Christians and conservatives follow, honor and respect. But knowing the means they use to deceive will better help us reclaim the issue. The three main schemes now being employed are these:

Distraction

The debate over abortion is habitually forced away from the central fundamental right to life. We must keep it there. Other lesser concerns such as reproductive freedom, bodily autonomy, and claims of civil rights have been used to move the focus off of the unassailable right to life that all Americans hold so dear. Abortion advocates frequently claim that abortion is needed to provide women and men with the freedom to choose whether and when to start a family. But this is a bogus claim. The choice to conceive is almost always voluntarily made at the moment of intercourse. Taking a life can never be justified as an acceptable remedy for poor judgment or reckless choices. Pro-lifers must not be distracted by these specious challenges, but rebuff them with kindness and reason.

Deceptive polling

News media do not use polling data to measure public opinion, but rather to alter it. Major news networks are citing polls that seem to indicate that the majority of Americans oppose the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down Roe. Carefully-worded poll questions posed to select respondents can seem to support this. But as Father of the Constitution, James Madison, stated in the formative years of the United States, “There is no maxim which is more liable to be misapplied than that the interest of the majority is the political standard of right and wrong.” Opinion polls, therefore, are irrelevant to deciding weighty moral issues such as life and death.

Smearing the Court

In an effort to de-legitimize Supreme Court’s rulings, liberal media outlets routinely remind their audiences which U.S. president appointed key Justices. This information is then used either to impugn the character of a Justice, or alternatively, to create an impression of political independence of Justices who support the Left’s misguided positions, as may suit their needs.

It’s noteworthy that little to nothing has been mentioned of Chief Justice, John Roberts’ deviation from Constitutional authority in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Center case. Roberts was appointed by President George W. Bush and promoted as a Constitutional originalist, although his voting record consistently declares otherwise.

A favorite method of denouncing the ideological opponents of the Left is to foment hatred and division. And the current darling method of achieving this is to align the enemies of the demonic Left with former president, Donald Trump.

The average American citizen today is grossly uninformed and easily manipulated by unscrupulous and dishonest news media and by equally-uninformed friends and acquaintances. Average Joe and Joan are not critical thinkers or intellectually inquisitive. As the past few years have demonstrated with shocking clarity, most Americans—including many professing-Christians—are media consumers who need clear direction. Responsibility to inform them falls to those who know the truth.

Each of us has family members, friends, neighbors, and fellow worshipers who are now willing to discuss abortion openly. Despite the presence of enemies within the Church, the local church should be one of the safest and easiest places to speak the truth with kindness and gentleness. Why bother? Because once a truth is known, it cannot be unknown. A word of truth spoken in a timely manner is a seed that may germinate in the mind of another in due season.

Let us not repeat the fatal mistake of prior generations by falling into complacency. If we fail to exploit every opportunity to correct and rewrite the false narratives of abortion defenders, the long-protracted war to defend life; born and unborn; at every stage of life, will be ultimately lost. Who knows but that we were not made for such a time as this?

Let us not stumble; let us not fail. Let us pray; let us stand. To God be the glory!
