Howard Dean and the Iowa caucus
By Joshua Bunton

With Eighteen percent Howard Dean landed third place in the Iowa caucus.

Howard Dean claims he suffered the most because he was the front-runner.

Following the caucus results Howard Dean appeared before supporters in a Des Moines ballroom to deliver his speech. During Dean's speech he stated, "If you had told us one year ago that we were going to come in third in Iowa, we would have given anything for that."

Additionally Dean said, "We're going to South Carolina and Okalahoma and Arizona and North Dakota and New Mexico! We're going to California and Texas and New York! And we're going to South Dakota and Oregon and Washington and Michigan! And then we're going to Washington, D.C. To take back the White House!"

This moment was then followed up with a bellow from Dean, and him saying, "We will not give up!"

Many pundits believe Howard Dean started to loose momentum in the polls when he said, "America is not any safer with the capture of Saddam Hussein."

Not only has Dean proclaimed America isn't any safer with the capture of Saddam Hussein. Mr. Dean has said the theory of George Bush knowing in advance of the 9/11 attacks is "interesting."

Further, Dean has said, "he would be to happy to fight to protect Americans and American interest abroad, but only if the United Nations gave him permission to do so."

Howard Dean has also blamed the media for his decline in the polls. Howard Dean invited himself to a Martin Luther King celebration in Iowa, and was overcome with hordes of media and left in embarrassment after five minutes.

When Dean got back on his bus he yelled at the press, "You know why I wasn't able to attend this event, because you guys are behaving so badly you've got to get a new life." Needless to say organizers of the event were not pleased.

Governor Dean has received endorsements from Former Vice President Al Gore, New Jersey Senator Bill Bradley, Iowa Senator Tom Harkin and Former Democratic Presidential candidate Carol Mosley-Braun.

But, more importantly, don't forget the nice comments Jimmy Carter made.

However, even Dean's endorsements weren't enough to boost him above third place.

Despite the results of the Iowa caucus, don't count Howard Dean out of the presidential race yet. It's not over! Remember, George W. Bush also finished third place in Iowa; And Bill Clinton finished fourth.
