Obedience to God

"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." ~ James 4:7

"For we must consider that we shall be as a city upon a hill. The eyes of all people are upon us. So that if we shall deal falsely with our God in this work we have undertaken, and so cause Him to withdraw His present help from us, we shall be made a story and a by-word through the world." – John Winthrop (1630)

Today's believer must guard against two faithless extremes: Apathy & Theocracy

Neither position is a true representation of the faith.

Apathy is the default response held by the defeatist Christian who perceives a God of indifference; one who does not "govern in the affairs of men."

Theocracy is the outcome sought by the Dominionist Christian who seeks to legislate Christian practices and principles in an attempt to a apply a tyrannical form of religious faith.

The faithful Christian understands the spiritual battle at hand; a battle that is not judged by secular outcomes. The world is not our home, it's our battlefield. Our reward is dependent upon our participation in the battle. Are we fighting the good fight or have we been driven underground? And if so, is this where we comfortably reside?

It will not remain so for long, because of secular efforts to infiltrate and subdue our sacred institutions – the prominent bastion of faith and democracy.

We should be wearing our armor and taking the fight to them. But we must understand that the victory will not be dependent upon the final results. Our fate is revealed in how faithfully we fight, and the spoils we reap will not be comprised of earthly goods.

We must not be bound to a path of least resistance, nor should we turn back when we reach a valley. A future kingdom is at stake. Are we guiding ourselves or being led by our King?

Resisting the ordinances of the demonic secularist, we maintain the righteous narrow path. While the road to compromise is nothing but a foolhardy deal with the devil; one that will welcome a reign of carnal and spiritual destruction and devastation.

Are we engaged or have we already raised the white flag and retreated?

We have our orders. Let's assume our positions and take our righteous place.

As we stand our ground, God will take care of the rest!

"But if our hearts shall turn away, so that we will not obey, but shall be seduced, and worship other Gods, our pleasure and profits, and serve them; it is propounded unto us this day, we shall surely perish out of the good land" – J.W.
