MONSTERS (the total depravity of man)
By A.J. Castellitto

The secret side of me
I never let you see
I keep it caged but I can't control it
So stay away from me
The beast is ugly
I feel the rage and I just can't hold it
It's scratching on the walls
In the closet, in the halls
It comes awake and I can't control it
Hiding under the bed
In my body, in my head
Why won't somebody come and save me from this

make it end

"There is a tendency in us, a sinful tendency that can pervert and distort our faith....Our job is not to ask that God respond to our notion of truth – our job is to be true to Him, His word, and His commandments." – President Barack Obama, National Prayer Breakfast, February 5th, 2015.

EVIL is not RELIGION; religion is merely one of a multitude of outlets used by men to act on the evil that lies in our depraved hearts.

"Total Depravity states that each and every person (except Jesus, 1 Peter 2:22) is completely touched by sin in all that he is and does whether it's heart, soul, mind, body, thought, or deed. However, this does not mean that all people are equally bad or that all people are as bad as they can be. Not all are murderers. Not all are adulterers. Not all cheat." – Matt Slick

Some of the most ruthless rulers of former generations were secularists and ardent atheists. Going all the way back to the days of the cruel and merciless Roman Emperor Nero, the brutal and the godless throughout the ages have had their day – reigns mired in blood and oppression. These were oppressive facist tyrants who ruled the people with iron fists -Stalin, Lenin, Hitler, Mussolini, Napoleon, Pol Pot, Mao Zedong, Enver Hoxha, and the list goes on.......

"By total depravity, is not meant that...men are destitute of all moral virtues. The Scriptures recognize the fact, which experience abundantly confirms, that men, to a greater or less degree, are honest in dealings, kind in their feelings, and beneficent in their conduct. Even the heathen, the Apostle teaches us, do by nature the things of the law. They are more or less under the dominion of conscience, which approves or disapproves their moral conduct. All this is perfectly consistent with the Scriptural doctrine of total depravity, which includes the entire absence of holiness; the want of due apprehensions of the divine perfections, and of our relation to God as our Creator, Preserver, Benefactor, Governor, and Redeemer" – Charles Hodge

Often times mankind's evil and depravities are much more subtle and isolated, while the widespread effects are devestating. There exists today a multitude of under-reported and overlooked atrocities, debaucheries and offenses that are blindly cultivated and perpetuated by our modern, God-dishonoring, humanly depraved, secular culture (and those hardened and detached lofty ones in high places). It's a culture where female degredation, child expoitation, male emasculation and various other social calamities are rampant. And with more technology, the unthinkable and inconceivable continues to go mainstream, leaving a growing number sorely vexed in their wake.

"Not until recently had I ever felt the weight of the fact that those outside Christ have no defense against the devil. God can restrain the devil from doing his maximum worst. But the world cannot. They are helpless before Satan's supernatural power. They are utterly in his sway, except for God's restraining providence. This should make us tremble for the hopelessness of the world and marvel at the magnitude of God's power and grace to keep the world from being ten thousand times more violent and miserable than it is." – John Piper

There is no (godless) moral high ground or intellectual superiority to be had in this life. We MUST get off our high horse and get over ourselves. We are dirty creatures with bloody hands. We turn our backs on the afflicted and embrace the ways and means of the sinister oppressor.

"Common grace restrains sin and the effects of sin on the human race. Common grace is what keeps humanity from descending into the morass of evil that we would see if the full expression of our fallen nature were allowed to have free reign." – John F. MacArthur

The best laid plans will ultimately go up in smoke. All our grand schemes are bound to backfire. We have the truth written on our hearts but they are turned black and hard. With stoney hearts we foolishly press on, sowing and reaping without God and without hope. We are accountable transgressors standing on shaky ground. Sophistication only ensures greater diabolical complexity (and social infiltration) for the wholly unrestrained servants of the devil. We lack the true imputation of righteousness and are incapable of any true and pure act of moral and spiritual goodness. We need a true exhortation, a forensic liberation.

We require a legal declaration, a full pardon, complete acquittal and exoneration of the widespread sin epidemic that lies in our hearts (and the world at large).

It's hiding in the dark
Its teeth are razor sharp
There's no escape for me
It wants my soul it wants my heart.
No one can hear me scream
Maybe it's just a dream
Or maybe it's inside of me
Stop this monster *

All too often the solution to all the madness that prevails from generation to wretched generation is the Greatest Offense of all. The losers and the outsiders will find their eternal peace. Resisting both wind and tide, we find glory and rest!
