Last minute thoughts on voting
By Madeline Crabb
Tuesday, November 7th, is Election Day. To hear the media, Republicans are in deep trouble, and may lose both houses of Congress. Obviously, the outcome depends upon what kind of America "we the people" want.
There are three major "hot button" issues to consider before pushing that final "send" button on the voting machine: National security, Iraq, and same-sex "marriage."
National Security
First of all, national security is the main role of our federal government. It is to protect us from all enemies, both foreign and domestic. Our leaders take oaths to uphold the Constitution and protect us. Two major threats to our security are Islamofascism (foreign and domestic) and the invasion of illegal immigrants.
Muslims are bent on conquering the world by force. Do we actually think America is immune? Look at Europe. And the Mexicans believe we stole parts of America from them, and that they are simply taking back (by force) what is rightfully theirs. Neither group is assimilating or wanting to become "Americanized" like our ancestors who founded this great nation.
Pandering politicians undermine existing laws to cater to millions upon millions of illegal immigrant invaders for future votes, while forsaking American citizens. They not only allow illegals to invade our country, but then take increasingly more money from American citizens to provide "cradle to grave" benefits for these people with their "gimme, gimme" attitudes. While we can feel sorry and pray for the not-so-fortunate from other countries, we cannot afford to feed, clothe, educate, and provide retirement for every underprivileged person on earth. It is not our government's role to do this even for its own citizens, so why should we do it for everyone else? Isn't this a threat to our national security as well?
Iraq
The second issue to consider is Iraq, which is really part of the war on terror. Remember that war on terror the president spoke about right after 9-11? A war on terror that would be long and unconventional? Iraq is more about Iran, who wants to use Iraq as a staging ground for their terrorism — like when Sadaam was in power. They also want to destroy Israel and also kill as many Americans as possible.
The insurgents, many from Iran, are trying to destabilize the area and weaken America's resolve. This is not conventional warfare, and is a difficult war. But it is war. Yet with help from Islamic propaganda, American media propaganda, and the "anti-war/anti-military" crowd, American resolve is being undermined.
And perhaps what should frighten us most is that Iran is getting weapons and help from Russia, China, and North Korea. For those of us who study the Bible, we can see how all of this fits into the end time picture of prophecy. We need to be in Iraq. So do we actually think the "cut and run gang" like John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi, and Ted Kennedy will do a better job? Do we really trust them with military matters?
Same-Sex "Marriage"
The third issue is same-sex marriage. To simplify this argument, let's just say that while we are to love all sinners, we cannot as a Church or society endorse something that God calls sin and an abomination. Period. But for those who still can't understand why same-sex marriage is detrimental to society, then consider some of the homosexual's unhealthy sexual practices: anal sex, "rimming," and "fisting." I will not describe these things here. You can do a Google search or go to www.MassResistance.org for education.
Based just on the public health hazard, it is bad public policy to promote and encourage homosexuality. Yes, this is America and people can do whatever they want. But when we consider "mainstreaming" these kinds of dangerous, vile practices, we jeopardize all Americans. Hello! What are we thinking?
Homosexual behavior also causes all Americans to absorb substantially higher health costs for the many diseases homosexuals acquire. Americans pay for homosexual "at risk" behavior through higher insurance premiums; but they also pay higher taxes to cover the uninsured, and for governmental programs like AIDS prevention, etc. — programs that never tell people to stop doing things, like sodomy, that cause such diseases. Duh!
The Consequences?
What are the stakes if conservatives lose both houses of Congress? While they will not happen overnight, each of these liberal causes will forcefully move forward. We will have same-sex marriage. We will continue to kill babies. We'll have an oligarchy, and be ruled by activist judges who will dictate what we can say and do, and how we worship. Why? Because the Congress we elect determines who gets confirmed — and we know the Libs in the 109th Senate have been obstructionists. Furthermore, Congress has constitutional authority over the Courts.
Additionally, we will be a Third World nation as the liberals move for open borders with their "y'all come" mentality. But then, President Reagan said that a nation without borders is not a nation at all. We will also face the serious scenario of a nuclear Iran and North Korea. Grave consequences of our choices, wouldn't you agree?
Oh, did I mention the 900% increase in spending when the Libs take over Congress? That's what the American Taxpayer Union is reporting, according to what the new liberal committee chairmen are proposing — it's right from the "horse's mouth."
Now What?
So on this last day before voting, let's seriously seek God's will for our nation. Then let's get informed about issues and our candidate's positions — it's not too late. We should remember that it's not what the candidate says, but what he does. Voting records speak louder than words.

Let's remember to pray for God's will to be done. Let's pray for victory for the marriage amendments in South Carolina, Idaho, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Colorado. Let's pray for success in South Dakota for the abortion amendment. Let's also pray for victory for every righteous, godly candidate across this land. (The Bible says that prayer changes things.) Then let's vote an informed vote.
God is going to hold us accountable for our choices — for our action or inaction. Everything we have is given to us by God. So our vote really isn't ours — it's God's. As the Bible states, the blood will be on our own hands if we wrongly choose. And if we don't vote God's will or don't vote at all, we will still be held responsible. Folks, we don't know how many more chances God is going to give us, so shouldn't we make the most of this one? To anyone willing to hear....
