Is this really the America we want?

Change we can believe in...that's what we were promised by our current president. Well America, how's that working out for ya?

This writer has been silent long enough. There are some people who won't be happy to see that I'm back, and will be even less happy to discover I'm more intense than ever. It is time to speak without fear against the madness being perpetrated by our so-called "representatives" and leaders. Like Glenn Beck says, Washington insanity should be causing blood to "shoot right out of your eyes." I can relate — how about you?

How can it be that Americans have been so slothful, stupid, and submissive for so long? (Oh yes we have.) The Founding Fathers would be rolling over in their graves if that were possible.

With all the information available to us, there is absolutely no reason for us to be ignorant about our history and the workings of our republican form of government. For about the past 50 years, we have allowed our history to be rewritten by those who are hell-bent on changing America's course. And the teachings about government aren't much better. But then, if we abdicate our responsibility to others without any oversight and accountability, then we are partners with the government leaders in dumbing-down our children, and thus, the weakening of our nation.

Beyond our unwillingness or laziness about getting and staying educated about America's past, present, and future, there is also the issue of our submission to the government. Why on earth would we rely on, even demand, that the government supply our every need — from birth to death? Can anyone say personal responsibility?

We have even deferred to politicians to think for us, perhaps feeling that they know much more than we do. This is soooo wrong, because politicians are no smarter than the rest of us. They are simply men, to whom we have given far too much power. And hasn't it been said that power corrupts?

Are we so blind we can't see the damage done by our slothfulness, stupidity, and submission? Americans bought the smooth-talking, persuasive speech of Barack Obama, even though he told us he planned on "fundamentally transforming America." (Just what did we think that meant? Hmmm.) Hearing such a statement from one of the most liberal people in Congress, a thinking person would run, not walk, from this man. Instead, gullible "sheeple" who thought the "leopard" could change his spots, elected Obama as president.

This president believes he has been given a "mandate," and is indeed fundamentally changing America. This perceived power is not only corrupting — it's becoming an absolute power that will corrupt absolutely. Think not? Hello! How many "czars" has Obama appointed that are accountable only to him — not the Congress or We the People?

At the close of the Constitutional Convention, Benjamin Franklin was asked if we had been given a monarchy or a republic, to which he answered, "a republic, if you can keep it." God's Word says that to whom much is given, much is expected. And indeed, we have been given much. Therefore, if we want to continue being blessed and free, both as individuals and as a nation, then we must participate in the political arena. We cannot just lie down and be dictated to by fallible men.

Originally, elected officials were meant to be "citizen legislators." Public servants. Today, many of these people are plain old garden variety politicians who believe that we work for them, not the other way around. If you haven't personally interacted with politicians, then watch TV coverage of some of the current town hall meetings. Talk about eye-opening. We now have out-of-touch, lifetime politicians who have become powerful and rich while supposedly "serving" us. In reality, many of them simply cater to whoever can keep them in power.

Politicians will only get more powerful and rich, while taking power and riches from those who bankroll them — their employers. (Uhhh, that's American citizens for those of you from Rush's Rio Linda.) They will continue on the road to change. In the end, if we don't like the change we're seeing, it is our duty to do something about it.

Is the blood shooting out of your eyeballs yet? If so, then it is time for YOU to awaken, arise, and act in restoring one nation under God. To anyone willing to hear....
