Why President Obama tells you to look ahead hopefully, not back or closely

President Obama apparently finds consistency less foolish than hypocrisy, secrecy and actual transparency.

Chris Matthews of NBC and MSNBC astonishingly announced during the last presidential campaign that then presidential candidate Barack Obama caused him to feel a thrilling sensation proceed up one of his legs. It was not the last time that Matthews foolishly spoke about or pathetically gushed over President Obama instead of scrutinizing him as a responsible journalist should and not automatically accepting his words as gospel. Yesterday Matthews not only predictably railed against Rush Limbaugh and Michelle Malkin for criticizing Obama, but also loonily lamented that the late William F. Buckley, Jr. (whom he credited with banishing anti-Semitism and racism from the conservative movement in the 1950's and 1960's) is not available to assure everyone that President Obama was born in Hawaii, declaim against doubters and dismiss questions about Obama's birth as racially motivated.

The Founders expected Presidents who would provides proof of eligibility to serve instead of stonewall in response to a simple request for proof. The stonewalling is troublesome, not the request for a birth certificate.

President Obama's problem is that Abraham Lincoln was right: "It is true that you may fool all the people some of the time; you can even fool some of the people all the time; but you can't fool all of the people all the time."

President Obama is like the Wizard of Oz: The image seems awesome, until you look behind the curtain.

The liberal media establishment opted to support instead of scrutinize candidate Obama, permitting him to become the President of the United States.

Americans know the inspiring Obama story that the Obama campaign put out, but not much more.

2008 Republican presidential candidate John McCain produced his birth certificate, but not 2008 Democrat presidential candidate Obama.

Why not Obama too?

Jim Myers, "Chris Matthews Wrong on Obama Birth Certificate," July 22, 2009:

"...Obama's refusal to release his birth certificate does mean that Obama remains one of America's most mysterious and opaque presidents ever.

"Obama, for example, has not released many other documents regarding his public and private life.

"Many of these documents were sought by reporters, who easily acquiesced when Obama said he would not release them though most presidential candidates release them as a perfunctory matter.

"Among the key documents that Obama continues to shield from the public:

  • Obama released just one brief document detailing his personal health. McCain, on the other hand, released what he said was his complete medical file, totaling more than 1,500 pages.

  • Obama refused to offer his official papers as a state legislator in Illinois. Nor did he produce correspondence, such as his schedules of appointments or letters from lobbyists, from his days in the Illinois state Senate.

  • Obama did not release his client list as an attorney or his billing records. He maintained that he performed only a few hours of legal work for a nonprofit organization with ties to Tony Rezko, the Chicago businessman convicted of fraud in June 2008 but did not release billing records that would prove this assertion.

  • Obama ignored requests for his records from Occidental College, where he studied for two years before transferring to Columbia University.

  • Obama's campaign refused to give Columbia, where he earned an undergraduate degree in political science, permission to release his transcripts. Former President George W. Bush and presidential contenders Al Gore and John Kerry all released their college transcripts.

  • Obama did not agree to the release of his application to the Illinois State Bar, which would have cleared up intermittent allegations that his application may have been inaccurate.

  • Obama did not release records from his time at Harvard Law School.

  • During the presidential campaign, McCain's campaign released a full list of all online donors. Obama's campaign still has not released the names of those who donated at least one-third of the $750 million he raised.

"Ironically, Obama accused the Bush White House of being 'one of the most secretive administrations in our history,' and chided then-Sen. Hillary Clinton for not releasing her White House schedules."

In 1839 Ralph Waldo Emerson remarked that "[a] a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines."

President Obama apparently finds consistency less foolish than hypocrisy, secrecy and actual transparency.

And, to date, it's worked for him.

Yes, Obama revealed much distressing information about himself in his autobiography, but the liberal media establishment gave him a pass instead of publicizing that information.

NOT Ann Coulter, however.

In "OBAMA'S DIMESTORE 'MEIN KAMPF,'" dated April 2, 2008, Ms. Coulter was prescient and provocative after reading Obama's autobiography, Dreams From My Father.

Ms. Coulter:

"Has anybody read this book? Inasmuch as the book reveals Obama to be a flabbergasting lunatic, I gather the answer is no. Obama is about to be our next president: You might want to take a peek. If only people had read 'Mein Kampf'...

"Nearly every page save the ones dedicated to cataloguing the mundane details of his life is bristling with anger at some imputed racist incident...."

If you had read the Obama autobiography, you would not have been shocked by Gates-gate. It was as predictable as it was embarrassing that the current President of the United States immediately sided with a black friend against a white police officer even after acknowledging he didn't know the facts.

Ms. Coulter related Obama's self-revealing story about taking two white friends from the high school basketball team to a "black party," as follows:

"Despite their deep-seated, unconscious hatred of blacks, the friends readily accepted. At the party, they managed not to scream the N-word, but instead 'made some small talk, took a couple of the girls out on the dance floor.'

"But with his racial hair-trigger, Obama sensed the whites were not comfortable because 'they kept smiling a lot.' And then, in an incident reminiscent of the darkest days of the Jim Crow South ... they asked to leave after spending only about an hour at the party! It was practically an etiquette lynching!

"So either they hated black people with the hot, hot hate of a thousand suns, or they were athletes who had come to a party late, after a Saturday night basketball game.

"In the car on the way home, one of the friends empathizes with Obama, saying: 'You know, man, that really taught me something. I mean, I can see how it must be tough for you and Ray sometimes, at school parties ... being the only black guys and all.'

"And thus Obama felt the cruel lash of racism! He actually writes that his response to his friend's perfectly lovely remark was: 'A part of me wanted to punch him right there.'"

Ms. Coulter continued:

"Wanting to punch his white friend in the stomach was the introductory anecdote to a full-page psychotic rant about living by 'the white man's rules'....

"Obama's gaseous disquisition on the 'white man's rules" leads to this charming crescendo: 'Should you refuse this defeat and lash out at your captors, they would have a name for that, too, a name that could cage you just as good. Paranoid. Militant. Violent. Nigger.'

"For those of you in the 'When is Obama gonna play the "N-word" card?' pool, the winner is ... Page 85! Congratulations!"

In addition, Ms. Coulter highlighted Obama sharing his secret for charming white folks:

"When his mother expresses concern about Obama's high school friend being busted for drugs, Obama says he patted his mother's hand and told her not to worry.

"This, too, prompted Obama to share with his readers a life lesson on how to handle white people: 'It was usually an effective tactic, another one of those tricks I had learned: People were satisfied so long as you were courteous and smiled and made no sudden moves. They were more than satisfied, they were relieved such a pleasant surprise to find a well-mannered young black man who didn't seem angry all the time.'"

Even before Obama received the 2008 Democrat presidential nomination, Ms. Coulter warned:

"...this technique seems to be the basis of Obama's entire presidential campaign. But moreover he was talking about his own mother! As Obama says: 'Any distinction between good and bad whites held negligible meaning.' Say, do you think a white person who said that about blacks would be a leading presidential candidate?

"The man is stark bonkersville."

Of course, the liberal media establishment preferred to pretend that Ms. Coulter is "stark bonkersville" and when the opportunity came for The New York Times to publish a pre-election Obama/ACORN expose, The New York Times killed the story rather than risk it becoming "a game changer."

But neither President Obama nor the liberal media establishment can change the facts, including the facts about Obama, ACORN and the liberal media establishment.

Wizard of Oz: Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

Of this, I am certain: it's past time for Americans to look behind the curtain and learn the truth.
