Stay and fight, DeLay . . . follow Bill Clinton's example
By Kaye Grogan
I have a little more "unsolicited" advice for House Majority Leader Rep. Tom DeLay of Texas, in dealing with the Democrats. Since they are trying to make you a lame duck — you can easily throw them a few curves of your own. You need to bring a ledger into the ethics committee if you can carry it — pointing out how the stone-throwing Democrats' ethics records aren't squeaky clean either.
I just finished reading a report where it's common practice for politicians on both sides to pay family members' salaries who support their political campaign and help out in campaign headquarters. So what's the beef? You're just too powerful Mr. DeLay, and you're going to have to be reigned in, before you manage to orchestrate too many more vacated Democratic seats to be filled by Republicans. How dare you work so intensely to unseat the Democrats who still just don't get it!
The Democrats remind me of a bunch of ice skaters at the "Ice Follies" trying to scoot along, oftentimes falling on their backsides, as the Republicans glide ever so gracefully over the ice.
For one week after the 2004 election, the Democrats took a long look at themselves, and evidently decided it's their way or else. And everybody disagreeing with their policy should take to the highway.
Instead of moving more to the middle, they fell off of a mountain from the left side — well, except for 2008 presidential hopeful Senator Hillary Clinton who is busy these days trying to convince conservatives she's changed her former "liberal" radical views.
If you see a leopard running around without it's spots — then you'll know anything is possible — even for a pumpkin to be changed into a beautiful carriage.
If Tom DeLay considers for one second, to resign his powerful seat in the House, he needs a swift kick where he sits down. Intimidation should have run its course by now. Besides, most are considered "groovy" if they ignore rules. Just get in line with the drummer leading the Democrats, and you will be high-stepping down the street to their beat — right along with them.
I get sick and tired of hearing how Tom DeLay should step aside until things are resolved. Did anyone see former President Bill Clinton step aside and hand Al Gore the reins during the "impeachment" proceedings? No, he was too busy ordering an "Aspirin" factory in Sudan be bombed on the eve of the House vote to impeach him. But no one can say that Clinton's party didn't stick by him. Hint — hint — Republicans! Shouldn't you also be rallying around Tom DeLay, and treating him like a real colleague too?
I don't know how many more traps the Republicans are going to have to fall into — or in their case be shoved into, before they decide to finally come out fighting.
Representative DeLay you need to think about your constituents and the faith they put in you when they elected you to office. Stay the course and whatever will be will be. And at the same time, if you are guilty of any wrong-doing — you need to pay the piper.
Whether you realize it or not Republicans, you're starting to act more like the "girlie men" that Gov. Swartzneggar calls the Democrats . . . when they whine and turn wimpy.
And that's just my opinion!
