Meet big bad John of America
By Kaye Grogan
I have come to the conclusion governmental employees need to work on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Good Friday. Why shouldn't the mail run on these days? After all, many are convinced they are just ordinary days. Why should those trying to make God extinct — benefit from these paid holidays? I haven't noticed any ACLU members "boycotting" or demanding that they be able to work on the days they appear to abhor.
Many want God taken off of our coins and out of the pledge. Let's just pretend for a minute the "godless" groups have been successful in accomplishing this feat. What are they going to do when their definition of separation and church no longer exists? This is going to open the government up to even more criticism, and they won't have the so-called veil or wall of separation of church and state to hide behind.
And what will the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) do without lawsuits challenging people of faith, and their right to practice religion freely? After all, these intimidating trials have funded their group to the tune of millions of dollars, because when it involves municipalities they fold easily and pay settlements bypassing confrontation with the ACLU in courts. In other words the ACLU is the "Big Bad John" of America.
The attack on Christ is nothing new. For 2,000 years since His birth, many people have been trying to denounce Jesus Christ's existence.
Just what is the goal of the ACLU? Well, depending on who you ask — you'll get a different point of view. But let's look at Roger Baldwin who established the organization 85 years ago, and what his personal ideology was and the grass roots he had laid out for the original group to work on. Baldwin cautioned the group to steer clear of looking like a socialist group, and to always present themselves as a patriotic group. Baldwin viewed right-wingers as aggressors who were a threat to the vision of the left-wing agenda and he considered himself a pacifist.
While the ACLU targets Christianity attempting to squash their voices — they are prone to defend and uphold the existence of pornographers, abortionists, and other bad vices detrimental to the well-being of the country.
As the "godless" group becomes more determined to interfere with the rights of people to worship freely, their agenda grows more transparent. A lot of money and time is spent on their unabashed tactics to rid society of symbolic Christian representation. The group seems resolute to remove all nativity scenes from public display replacing them with secular type decorations. And they want Christmas Carols replaced with the songs "Jingle Bells" and "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" permanently. There is certainly nothing wrong with children singing these songs during the holidays, but when the overall picture is to suppress Christmas songs that depict the birth of Jesus, simply because anti-Christ groups want to interfere with freedom of religion this is totally unacceptable behavior.
I am encouraged to see that many groups are forming to counter-attack the ACLU. The shoe definitely needs to be on the other foot for awhile. It is clear the ACLU has overstepped their boundaries in abusing the rights of the people clearly laid out in the "Constitution of the United States."
Many people are getting fed up watching the government as they sit idly by, as the traditions of America are constantly under attack and being eroded.
During the confirmation hearings of Judge John Roberts, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina stated that it was sickening that a child can't pray in school, and it is sickening that the flag can be burned and desecrated under free speech. While I admire Senator Graham for reminding those listening to the hearings of these injustices and "unfair" restrictions — I want to know what he is willing to do about restoring respect to the flag, and fighting to bring prayer and the Bible back into the corrupt halls of public schools?
Congress needs to step in and investigate the litigation when the ACLU files charges against municipalities for the display of Christian symbolism in the public arena. As the pockets of the ACLU expand from intimidating people of faith, by settlements — the investigation into this type of religious browbeating needs to expand.
In Vietnam, homes of Christians are burned down — making it clear that Christianity won't be tolerated there. Is the United States also becoming intolerant of Christianity through the brainwashing of organizations like the ACLU and Americans United for the Separation of Church and State? If this country is supposed to be a Christian nation — where are the Christians? It would appear that the 85 percent professing to be Christians are now the silent majority.
What happens when a country is stripped of "freedom of religion" and traditional values? The answer is very simple: the country is ruled by communism — and has been destroyed without one missile being fired.
And that's just my opinion!
