Is Dick Morris trying to make history?
By Kaye Grogan

Fox News political analyst Dick Morris is dreaming, if he insists that the current Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is the only one who can beat Hillary Clinton in a presidential election. There is not one specific or believable fact-finding statistic to prove that either woman can pull-off the astronomical uphill battle to be elected America's first woman president.

Could Morris's claim be a ploy to try and help Ms. Clinton in her bid for the presidency by convincing the Republicans Miss Rice is the only frontrunner for the Republican nomination? And it can't be ruled out that Morris's real motive is to sell a lot of books. In the meantime, the Republicans need to move with caution. Better yet, they need to ignore the meanderings of Dick Morris — period.

Outspoken Susan Estrich claims that the Republicans are using Miss Rice. Uh . . . Ms. Estrich, I believe Dick Morris is a Democrat, and he is the one pushing for Miss Rice to accept the challenge of running against Hillary Clinton. In fact, not a single Republican has endorsed Miss Rice publicly to accept the party's 2008 nomination to represent their party in a presidential face-off.

Here is my take on the matter: Dick Morris is trying to convince the Republicans to consider Rice as the Republican presidential nominee, because this would ensure that a woman will (finally) be president. Well DUH, . . . if the two candidates are women-go figure! If you try to pick Morris's personality apart most will find that he is hard to read at times, beneath his less than candid personification. He blows in like the wind on the set at Fox News long enough to give his political views, and in the process probably causes severe boredom for the viewers.

Since the Office of the Presidency is not an "on the job training" position, and it does require at least some knowledge of how government works, not everybody is qualified to run the country. But on the other hand, maybe someone totally disassociated with the government would make a better presidential candidate.

Evidently, Mr. Morris knows Miss Rice better than she knows herself. According to his analytic thinking, Rice doesn't really mean no when she says she's not interested in running for president. I believe he has her mixed up with Ms. Clinton. Clinton is the one who doesn't really mean no when she says she is not interested in being president.

Sometimes it's difficult to figure out where Dick Morris is coming from politically. After being one of Bill Clinton's right-hand yes men — one has to wonder if his "scathing" remarks about his former boss's wife are just a ploy to throw people or on the level.

A few months back Morris was certain that Hillary didn't stand a snow ball's chance of becoming president, now all of a sudden he opines the only person who can thwart Hillary's presidential chances is Miss Rice.

I believe anything Dick Morris says should be suspect. He reminds me a little bit of a fake snake oil salesman who is able to convince a lot of people to buy into his equivocal analogies.

While pundits postulate that Condoleezza would spilt the black vote, there are no plausible facts to back this up, because many blacks see her as a sellout to the Bush administration.

I just don't think the country is ready for a woman president. With the ongoing problems in Iraq — I would not feel comfortable with a woman overseeing and making crucial decisions concerning military strikes, especially after hearing some of the comments Hillary Clinton has made about the Iraqi invasion. And yet, evidently she didn't have a problem with her husband ordering military strikes against Iraq, because Saddam Hussein would not comply with the orders of U.N. weapons inspectors in December 1998 on the eve of Clinton's history making impeachment. Many questioned the timing of the strike in Iraq, as they coincided with the vote to impeach the former president.

There is no way on God's green earth that Hillary Clinton is going to win over the conservative red states, no matter who she runs against. Ms. Clinton is as transparent as Saran Wrap. Leaving a trail of being a liberal in the past, makes it even more difficult to convince people all of a sudden you're a moderate or conservative — as Ms. Clinton will find out, if she accepts her party's endorsement to be their presidential candidate.

In the meantime, as Dick Morris goes about being a public relations puppet for Hillary Clinton, maybe . . . just maybe — he'll be a small part of history.

But if he's depending on Condoleezza Rice to help him out historically — he can kiss his little paragraph in the history books goodbye.

And that's just my opinion!
