Border control is simplistic . . . so just do it!
By Kaye Grogan

There is a simple way to control the borders. Just put 100,000 volts of electricity on the fence the illegal immigrants use to climb over into America. But first issue a warning to other countries that the fence is lethal. Post warnings on the fence in all languages — so everyone will know if they touch the fence, they do so at their own peril.

It is getting beyond ridiculous when our government informs us that the porous borders can't be controlled, especially when we know better.

For goodness sakes! ...what is our military for, if not to protect our country from an invasion by those entering America illegally who may pose a serious threat to the citizens?

Can we really feel more secure and regain trust in our government after Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff promised that all illegal immigrants will be rounded up and deported without any exceptions within a year? Many think the effort to start trying to control — the out-of-control illegal immigration population is too little too late.

And why should we be forced to build more prisons to house illegals until a decision can be made about what to do with them? Just send them back to their country and be done with it!

America should not be a land of diversity to the point of endangering the lives of native-born Americans. If President Bush is really serious about protecting us from terrorists, he should have seen the open-door policy of our borders as a haven for the terrorists to slide into America with their suitcase bombs intact as a hazardous condition a long time ago.

Is cheap labor for farmers, textile, and furniture industries worth the overall risk to Americans? Emphatically . . . NO!

Do you think for one minute that the countries using our borders for illegal activity would tolerate the same kind of invasion by Americans? Absolutely not! So why should we tolerate their unlawful practices — especially with the blessing of our leaders? When crime is encouraged, it is certainly not going to go down, it is just going to escalate.

When the citizens of a country have to petition their government to protect the citizens, well something is seriously wrong.

I agree with NoMoreAmnesty.com when they point out how amnesty for documented foreign workers is costing the taxpayers dearly. According to the group's history report: since 1986 the price tag for various programs for illegals has skyrocketed to $78.7 billion.

According to statistics: for every illegal caught, three escape into our country, so how accurate is the report that only one million infiltrate into America annually? If the amount of illegal entrants is at least three times higher than actually recorded — we are in more danger than anyone in Washington wants to admit publicly.

Since the population is already wall-to-wall in proportion, how much sense does it make to keep adding millions of people to the already congested assemblage? Just imagine what a problem breeding deer without thinning them out poses, and you have the same situation concerning overpopulation.

I think the following statement says it best about what should be required of foreigners before they become U.S. citizens:

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language . . . and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Theodore Roosevelt 1907

couldn't have said it better myself!

And that's just my opinion!
