Plamegate . . . fact or fiction?
By Kaye Grogan

The Democrats can't beat the Republicans at the polls, so they want them all to apologize and resign. Poor Karl Rove hasn't been indicted in the Flame Plamegate scandal yet, but the hardcore Democrats expect to see him get down on his knees, and apologize for just existing, I suppose.

After listening to several call-in segments on C-Span concerning the Plamegate debacle, I sense the liberals smell blood. It's ironic how the liberals already have Mr. Rove convicted as the head leaker exposing Plame as a CIA operative without sufficient evidence to back up their claim. It's obvious these people have never been accused (unfairly) of engaging in a crime they are innocent of — or they would be more understanding of how stressful it is to be in the shoes of Mr. Rove.

I agree, if anybody is guilty of any wrongdoing they should be held accountable and pay the Piper. But if Democrat Sandy Berger can destroy important documents involving sensitive 9-11 data and just get a smack on the wrist, the same punishment should be adequate for Republicans.

I can't help but notice how the liberal news media have turned into bloodhounds. They go one step past just smelling blood, they are going after the jugular. Wouldn't you think by now — they would have learned a lesson? Yeah — fat chance with this bunch!

The liberal news media's heyday is all but over, thanks to the news on the Internet. For years they controlled what was reported and what was shoved under their liberal desks. Instead of: "we report — you decide" it was really "we report what we want to and cover-up the things that make our boys and girls look bad."

Speaking of smelling something — many people smell a big rat, and see the transparency of the real agenda of the liberals in the news and congress. The real goal is to try and bring down the Bush Administration. Why else would Senator Harry Reid close the Senate down and go into a private meeting discussing how he thinks President Bush lied to the American people about Saddam's weapons of mass destruction as an excuse to invade Iraq. Did Reid also admonish Bill Clinton for thinking the same thing, when he ordered the bombing of Iraq when Hussein refused to allow the Weapon's Inspectors into the country to investigate just what Hussein was up to strategically for several years? The double standards here are quite nauseating to say the least.

While I believe in justice being served, I also believe in a level playing field. The liberal news media appears to take great delight in making America — especially our president look bad to other nations. Frankly speaking, if it takes torture (within reason) to gather information to thwart another "senseless" attack on Americans — then so be it! For goodness sakes! ...this is not some tea party folks!

Like many other people, I have my suspicions of what the true facts are involving the Plame scandal, but we'll just have to wait and see how things play out in the courts. But no matter how things turn out, there will always be some people who seem to have a problem dealing with reality — who will not accept the results, unless they go in their favor. There are still many people who believe that George W. Bush stole the 2000 election from Gore. Well, if that's the case the Republicans need to know how he accomplished this great feat, so they can keep a Republican in the Office of the Presidency until the cows come home.

I am still waiting for the "big" shoe to fall in the Plamegate debacle. Sorry guys and gals, but Lewis Libby is not the big fish that didn't get away. If prosecutor U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald has not found sufficient evidence for a grand jury to indict Karl Rove after a two-year investigation — it is not likely the evidence to hang Rove is going to surface in a bottle floating in the ocean somewhere.

So, I guess the "fishers' of Republicans" will have to go elsewhere — to find their next big smelly shoe to drop.

But if it makes the liberals in the news media happy to try and make Libby a good substitute for Rove — then I suppose it's better than watching grown men and women biting fingernails, and sucking pacifiers.

And that's just my opinion!
