Twice burned never learned = Democrats
By Kaye Grogan

Now that Senator Joe Lieberman has been ousted from the Democratic Party, he is a shoe-in as an Independent new Democrat. Heaven knows the Democrats don't have any problem whatsoever chewing up their own and spitting them out like a used wad of chewing tobacco. But time will tell if the "insensitive" way they treated Lieberman will come back to bite them where it really hurts, when the November elections roll around in about three months.

If I were a betting person, I would definitely ante my poker chips toward Joe Lieberman's ability to pull off a big upset single-handedly against the almost defunct Democrats. In fact, this is probably one of the biggest "blessings" in disguise to give new hope to the sleeping Democrats who are fed up with the direction their party has taken since the Clintonias arrived in Washington with the declaration and futile promise that they were going to lead the party in the direction of new Democrats. And God is the only one who really knows in great detail just what a catastrophe this turned out to be. What we witnessed with our own eyes and went through during that era is something most of us would like to forget.

Senator Lieberman made a grave mistake when he went to Iraq and came back supporting the president and our troops. This amiable support drove the last nail in Lieberman's political Democratic coffin. But he will resurrect as an "angel" and finally help to make the Independent Party a force to be reckoned with — as the majority of the Americans are in favor of another viable political party to break up the stronghold the two party system has burdened the country with. Even a glutton for punishment finally gets tired of unpleasantries and looks for better opportunities eventually.

Poor Ned Lamont is falling into the same political trap as the rest of the Democrats, as he tries to expound on the failed national healthcare issue involving Bill & Hillary Clinton in 1992. The more those two promised to fulfill their previous healthcare platform that they ran on — the more distant and unattainable this whole issue turned out to be.

Lamont is flying high after beating a popular incumbent, but the glory that he is basking in (prematurely) may be short-lived — so my best advice to him is to enjoy it while he can.

For the life of me, I can't pinpoint just what values the Democrats keep referring to pledging that they will continue to uphold if they are returned to power.

Perhaps, the best definition of values should be noteworthy: principles or standards of behavior. To go one step further, principles are defined as: morally correct behavior and attitudes. Definitely favorable attributes the Democrats are sorely missing.

Folks, we have already been twice burned with the back to back election of former President Bill Clinton. Surely, we learned something positive and constructive to never want to repeat the same history by electing his wife to the presidency.

The most important question: how many times do we as Americans who deserve decent, positive, and moral leadership need to be burned before we learn? Once should have been enough by now, but twice . . . well — just chalk that up as poor judgement.

Even small children most of the time learn from their mistakes. How many times have you witnessed a child who has touched a hot oven door — returned back to touch it again?

And if Hillary Clinton is elected president in 2008 — we will be walking barefoot through the fire a third time. Usually, the third time is said to be a charm, but in this case it would be another four years of nightmares!

And that's just my opinion!
