Liberals seeing red!
By Doug Hagin
After the recent presidential election, American Liberals must be feeling a little ill. Not often does a nation so overwhelmingly reject out of hand an ideology. Nevertheless, make no mistake the results at the polls on November 2, 2004 were a complete rejection of the leftist mentality that the American political left would foist upon this great nation.
To get the proper perspective on just how convincing the Republican victory was consider these facts. President George W. Bush received more votes than any presidential candidate has ever received, nearly 60 million of them, well over 3 million more than his opponent John Kerry did. Of the 50 United States Bush won 31 of them.
Perhaps even more telling for the American left is the fact that the Republicans increased their majorities in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. These increased majorities give the Republicans a much-improved opportunity to deliver on President Bush's promises to restructure the tax code and privatize Social Security.
Consider also that 11 U.S. Stares voted overwhelmingly to ban Gay marriage and the picture of how far removed from mainstream America the Liberal elites are becomes even clearer. The voters made their decision largely on the issue of values and the values of the left were soundly rejected.
Of all the bad news items for American Liberals though has to be the electoral map of America broken down by counties. The map marking counties voting for Bush in red and those voting for Kerry in blue leaves absolutely no doubt how America feels about the course this nation should take. The map shows that even in the States where John Kerry won, like New York and California, Bush won far more counties.
The fact is John Kerry won the metropolitan areas of America and not much else. Looking at the map you will see a literal sea of red with a few blue spots here and there. For all the talk of how divided America is this map tells a far different story.
America chose much more than just a President on November 2.
America chose respect for human life over abortion on demand.
America chose to continue supporting our troops and the Bush Doctrine of pre-emption over the ideals of appeasement and basing our actions on world opinions.
America chose respect for the rights of Americans to own guns and defend themselves and their property against criminals.
America chose traditional values over moral relativism and the "if it feels good do it" mentality.
America chose the principles of rewarding Americans for hard work over the Marxist principles of punitive and confiscatory tax codes.
America chose a president with the moral courage to reject the likes of the Kyoto Protocol and the World Court. At the same time, America rejected the ideal that America is not a sovereign nation but merely a member of the world community.
America chose a president who has and will continue to place more importance in defending our nation than into pleasing France, Germany and the United Nations.
America chose the politics of hopefulness and pride in America over the message of anger and resentment the Democrats always bring to the table.
America chose to reject the big government solutions to every problem the Democrats always seem to support.
America chose to reject the hate of George Soros, Michael Moore, Al Franken, the Hollywood elites and Ted Kennedy. Instead, America embraced the hopeful message of the Conservatives.
America chose to reject government controlled health care, hiring quotas, and the politics of fear.
America chose to ignore the Liberals insistence of dividing our nation along racial lines, instead choosing a message that color does not and should not matter in this nation. Likewise, the voters effectively dismissed the Democrats constant harping about cutting taxes only for the rich. If the Democrats ever want to regain any power in America, they must learn it is their rhetoric and their allegiance with the likes of Michael Moore and Jesse Jackson that is driving voters away.
Overall America very clearly chose the ideology of the Conservatives instead of the Liberals. There can be no doubt that America has grown tired of the whining and carping of the Liberal establishment, which controls the Democratic Party. The question is whether the Democrats will see the election results as what they were, a total rejection of Leftists ideology, or if they will just get angrier and move even further to the left.
The question for the Republicans is equally important for their future. They can, on one hand, look at the results and see that America has accepted Republican ideals and expects the Republicans to go forward with their agenda. The other option for the Republicans is to reach out and attempt to unite the nation. This strategy will only prevent them from doing the things they campaigned on. The Republicans have won, now they must lead. If there is reaching out to do let the left, which has been the party of division and anger do the reaching out.
