Why?

Let me state right off the bat how good it is to be back writing. In the past few weeks, I just could not do it. Call it burn out, or writers block, or too many personal issues. Call it whatever you like, but the bottom line was I just could not write.
Allow me to thank all those who supported me and understood, and let me also thank those who sent me emails offering support. It does mean a great deal. Now onto getting back to writing my column for this week.
The topic is one that, frankly, I could do just about any week if I chose. It revolves around one word. One of the shortest, yet largest words in our lexicon. That word is why. I often pose a word to myself.
My parents encouraged me, from a young age, to question things I saw and heard. My propensity to ask why did cause considerable friction with Mrs. Ingram, my eight-grade teacher, but overall it has served me well I would say.
Now on to what things have me shaking my head and asking why. Many are political, some are about sports, or culture, some concern my pet peeves, but all are, in my view, important for all of us to ask.
Why are Liberals so hateful these days? It is easy to understand being out of sorts because they lost almost every election in the last ten years or so, but really, the abject hatred has me questioning their collective sanity. They seem mentally unhinged, and on the verge of mental breakdowns.
Why do these same Liberals never seem able to grasp the existence of evil? They were aghast when President Reagan called the Soviet Union an evil empire and demanded the Berlin Wall come down. They were equally fearful of President Bush calling Iran, Iraq, and North Korea the axis of evil. Why for goodness sake? Do they really think the way to beat evil is to accommodate and appease it?
Why are Liberals, who act as if they are the most intellectually advanced and open-minded folks on earth, so afraid of opposing views? Take the current debate about evolution and intelligent design for instance. If Liberals are right and evolution is an unassailable fact, why not allow their belief to be challenged? Instead, they seek to silence anyone speaking of intelligent design by attacking them as some backwards hick. Why are they so afraid?
Likewise why are so-called pro-choice advocates so unwilling to debate medical and biological facts? Show them an ultrasound, or try to support the pro-life position with medical evidence human life does begin at conception and they literally go ballistic. They will rant, rave, try to change the topic, call you names, curse you, but will NEVER debate your facts.
Why do so many Liberals refuse to accept that guns are the most effective deterrent to violent crime? Certainly, the evidence is absolutely overwhelming. States with concealed carry laws see violent crime drop, and do not see Wild West shootouts or blood running in the streets. Gun control has failed to do anything but aid criminals and weaken our ability to defend ourselves. Why doesn't the left get it?
Why is it that some of my fellow Conservatives are all for small government, except when they see a TV show which offends them, or suspects their neighbor is a Homosexual engaging in Gay sex? Then all of a sudden, they want more government intervention into what all of us watch and start defending sodomy laws.
Channels can be turned, or blocked, you can be a parent and tell your children no. Moreover, no matter how offensive Homosexuality is to you, what consenting adults do in the privacy of their homes, as long as no one is hurt, is none of anyone else's business.
Why are so many Atheists so afraid of the mention of God? Why fear what you do not believe in? Could it be it is the Pagan Left, which is the intolerant side, and NOT the Religious Right?
Why are the self-appointed civil rights groups always so bitter and angry? They act as if they are angry with everyone and everything.
Why are today's baseball players injecting every imaginable performance enhancing drug to try to break records set by some fat guy, who drink too much and ate junk food?
Why, oh why are the morons who run college football, still not supporting playoffs?
Why do so many televangelists look like a blind person cut their hair, and did their make up?
Why does anyone listen to rap music?
Finally this question, often posed by yours truly. Why have Salma Hayeck, or Tia Carrere not called me yet?
