The evolution establishment suppresses evidence
Fred Hutchison
In an op-ed piece in the Columbus Dispatch on 6/24/05, Professor Oldenquist asserted that there is no scientific evidence against the theory of evolution. Last week a writer for the Dispatch said the same thing in an unsigned editorial. The only way that Oldenquist and the Dispatch science adviser could make such an assertion in good faith is: 1) to only know what the evolution establishment is saying, and 2) to never have read the papers or books written by scientific creationists or intelligent design scientists.
I wrote an essay highlighting six scientific discoveries which contradict certain of the processes and assumptions which underlie the evolution model. For example, Chinese scientists discovered fossils of all nine phyla of complex animals in Cambrian rock. No complex transitional forms have been discovered in Precambrian rock. The sudden leap from simple to complex animals is often called "the Cambrian explosion."
The Cambrian explosion is published in the Chinese scientific journals but is banned from the prestigious American scientific journals. Instead of helping us understand how to interpret the Cambrian explosion, the American Evolution establishment is covering it up as an inconvenient piece of evidence. This is why men like Dr. Oldenquist and the Dispatch science advisor can be innocent of any facts which do not fit the evolution model. They only read the literature from which such information has been expunged.
China has a political dictatorship but their science establishment enjoys freedom of thought and freedom in their scientific press. America enjoys free political speech and press but our evolution establishment is a totalitarian regime intolerant of dissent and hostile to inconvenient facts.

A message from Stephen Stone, President, RenewAmerica
I first became acquainted with Fred Hutchison in December 2003, when he contacted me about an article he was interested in writing for RenewAmerica about Alan Keyes. From that auspicious moment until God took him a little more than six years later, we published over 200 of Fred's incomparable essays — usually on some vital aspect of the modern "culture war," written with wit and disarming logic from Fred's brilliant perspective of history, philosophy, science, and scripture.
It was obvious to me from the beginning that Fred was in a class by himself among American conservative writers, and I was honored to feature his insights at RA.
I greatly miss Fred, who died of a brain tumor on August 10, 2010. What a gentle — yet profoundly powerful — voice of reason and godly truth! I'm delighted to see his remarkable essays on the history of conservatism brought together in a masterfully-edited volume by Julie Klusty. Restoring History is a wonderful tribute to a truly great man.
The book is available at Amazon.com.
