Gays should not be given a free pass
By Fred Hutchison
Debates about gay rights which are coming before legislative bodies require candor, civility and clear thinking. However, some gay activists seem to think that they have a free pass to shower insults on those who disagree with them.
Chris Stenger responded to a letter I wrote about some of the adverse consequences to society if the gay agenda becomes law. He called me "Archie Bunker" — said that I am "filled with hate" — that I am a "bigot" — that I am singling out scapegoats — and that I am at the par with Hitler. In the lingo of gay activists, showering a hail of insults on opponents is called "jamming."
The insults and accusations made by Mr. Stenger are absurd, of course. His version of what I wrote is also absurd. Never mind. Mr. Stenger was looking for an Archie Bunker or a Hitler to scream at and rational debate with him is impossible.
I leave the reader with two questions: 1) If the proposed "hate speech laws" are passed and vigorously enforced, will those who publically disagree with the gay agenda be hauled before a politically correct court where they will be publically vilified and slandered by angry gays? 2) Why do we give gay activists a free pass to use insults instead of arguments in public debates? Does being gay give one the license to verbally abuse, bully and intimidate their opponents?
