Liberals push for socialism through illegal immigration
By Jan Ireland
Our government is literally unable to tell us how many illegal aliens are in our country at this moment. More than two years after 9-11, our borders are still breached daily. While we are looking for any terrorists who might be among them, we are completely missing another threat. Liberals are using millions of unskilled and uneducated illegal immigrants to push for socialism in America. They demonstrate, remonstrate, demand, cajole, vote, and sue for an American safety net from cradle to grave. We see America as a beacon of freedom. Liberals see it as ripe for socialism.
American feeling about illegal immigration has always been a duality.
We are a nation of immigrants, proud of our Statue of Liberty, with her arm outstretched and welcoming inscription. We want to help when we see an erstwhile truck turned into an improbable boat; mothers holding babies close as they run; belongings held above water as a slow quiet line advances in the night. We weep at the tragedy of airless truck beds exposing suffocated bodies; of faces anguishing in water, knowing they will be returned to the country from which they fled; of a little boy screaming as he is pulled from the arms of family members. We worry as doctors in border hospitals count the centimeters dilated, of pregnant women hoping to win the citizenship lottery by having a baby born on American soil.
But we see also the cost of additional schools, hospitals, and housing infrastructure which must be built to accommodate millions of illegal immigrants. We see the explosion of care required from our border medical facilities, as families visit our emergency rooms for everything from the simple to the life threatening. We see human detritus dumped along our highways and in our deserts, carrying with it disease and germs. We deal with theft and gangs and drinking and drugs. We are angered that we have to pay billions of tax dollars for the needs of these illegal immigrants — while they send billions of the dollars they make back home to other countries.
Still, Americans are disunited about shoring up our borders with force. Illegal crossings went up recently simply at the mention of a possible new Guest Worker program. Low-end estimates of the number of illegal aliens in our country at the moment range from 8 to 12 million. Many sources place the number much higher, some as high as 35 million. Many of our highways have signs cautioning motorists to watch for humans, let alone deer, crossing the road.
No country in the history of the world comes close to the accomplishments of America. Our founding documents are unique in history. We have freedoms that no other country on earth has. At less than three hundred years old, we are the world's lone superpower. No wonder much of the world wants to come here. America's dream still lives, but not in the hearts of liberals.
Liberals see America as having too much; as being too unequal; as deserving to be leveled. They are ashamed that we stand out. Strangers to freedom, they would turn America into the socialist or totalitarian regimes they hold in esteem, desiring to impose on our society what much of the world has spent years and lives trying to throw off.
In the guise of equality for all, they would deny freedom to any. If they cannot overthrow America's freedoms and system of Capitalism directly, they will at least make it bend to their will. They will subtly make it provide for those who will not work, or will not dream, or who live only to manipulate others to provide for them.
We are incrementally losing our freedom in America. It is happening quietly, and it is not because of terrorists or the Patriot Act. It is because we have allowed liberals to impose their specious 'equality' claims on everything from race to speech to lifestyle. To reclaim our country we must reclaim the territory we have lost. Deporting millions of illegal aliens is a good start.
