A depraved nation
By Nedd Kareiva
"To boldly go where no man has gone before."
For those of you living in the 60s and 70s or who are TV science fiction lovers, you undoubtedly remember the above phrase as the theme from Star Trek. However, that same phrase also accurately identifies the state of America's moral decay today.
Many of us remember Robert Bork's book Slouching towards Gomorrah. But with all due respect to one of America's finest judges, it would be accurate to say we are now hurtling towards Gomorrah. And taking us there is the axis of moral evil — the pornography and abortion industries and the homosexual movement. And central to the axis is the organization that encompasses all of the above, the ACLU.
Perhaps no greater issue offends the senses of a vast majority of Americans than abortion and specifically partial birth abortion. Undoubtedly, no specific aspect of the pro-life movement has galvanized more Americans than this "procedure." Passed by Congress and signed by President Bush in 2003, the law has thus far been successfully challenged in the courts by Planned Parenthood and the ACLU. Hopefully it will get to the Supreme Court once again and be overturned.
The fact we have moved beyond "basic" abortion to a "procedure" involving the barbaric and brutally tortuous death of an unborn child inches away from birth demonstrates the depravity of the abortion industry. Civilized nations do not approve of killing unborn children, let alone children coming out of the birth canal. Yet Americans have allowed this form of abortion to go largely unchecked, a form even the liberal American Medical Association says is never necessary, a form that even the late Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan from New York rightly called infanticide.
South Dakota has thus far been the first state to totally ban abortion, pending the governor's signature. Other states — Ohio, Indiana, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi and most recently Missouri — are also considering outright or near outright bans. It is heartening to see legislators in such states wanting to protect the tiniest citizens of society, even if there are challenges to the law by PP and the ACLU. Banning it will never compensate for the last 33 years and 45 million baby slaughters that Roe vs. Wade set into motion but it will at least pave the way for the healing of our land and end the depravation we have tolerated for over 3 decades.
Although nothing shows the degradation of society more than the way we treat unborn children, there are a few recent items that are showing America's depraved nature. A decade or so ago, we saw a crucifix submerged in urine and elephant dung placed on a statue of the Virgin Mary. One could probably not imagine sinking deeper in the gutter. Well, a web site by the name of Divine Interventions — www.divine-interventions.com — appears to have done just that.
Offering dildoes in the form of Moses, Mary and Jesus, among others, which is what Divine Interventions does, further demonstrates the total degeneration of certain individuals towards the religious community and specifically those of us embracing the Judeo-Christian faith.
One can only imagine the civil war occurring had the creator of this site created dildoes in the images of Allah and Mohammed, especially after the unrest created by the cartoons from Denmark.
This is a site the ACLU would love and defend at all costs. Going all the way and where few, if any, have gone before.
Have we hit rock bottom yet? Keep reading.
My home state of Illinois and specifically the city of Chicago is hosting the Gay Games in July of this year. It is offensive to the sensibilities of many Americans to bring a group of individuals together identified by whom they have sex with. But that is what will be happening in Chicago this summer.
One of the sponsors of the "Games" is Walgreens, one of America's largest drug store chains. It is incredible to think that a company which for decades has prescribed and provided medicines to sick Americans is promoting an event whereby the actions of its practitioners drastically shorten their lives by anywhere from one to three decades.
The web site of Gay Games states that registration has exceeded 8000 from 30 different countries and its attainable goal will be around 12,000. The disturbing aspect of this event is that many of these individuals will be coming to America with HIV, AIDS and other STDs exclusive to the homosexual community, thanks to a special waiver given by the U.S. government at the behest of the city's mayor and a Chicago Congresswoman.
Despite states passing marriage amendments across the country and more of them putting them on the ballot this fall, homosexual activities have been steadily flourishing, if not increasing. More and more so-called "Gay Pride" parades occur in more and more cities across America and so-called "Gay/Straight Alliances," heavily promoted and backed by the ACLU, are becoming fixtures in public schools. School officials with strong senses of morality have been unable to keep them out under threats of ACLU lawsuits. They are disguised under the banner of safety and tolerance but are in reality channels for promoting dangerous homosexual activities among young people.
And sad to say, many of the Fortune 500 companies have joined in the homosexual parades, not to mention providing all sorts of benefits and activities to cater to them. Some of them even provide special perks to transsexuals and transvestites.
Partial birth abortion, perverted sexual "instruments" for sale, and foreigners infested with AIDS coming to Chicago and practicing dangerous sexual activities — can anyone top that? Better put, can anyone bottom that?
The answer to that question is a disturbing yes and lies in the state where homosexual marriage was sanctioned by the state Supreme Court, Massachusetts.
Warning, the following, though not entirely graphic, is not for the squeamish.
However, I first suggest you click this link http://www.mass.gov/legis/laws/mgl/272-34.htm and then this one http://www.mass.gov/legis/bills/house/ht00/ht00819.htm (scroll down to Section 7 near the bottom of the page).
Make the connection?
The question of how low will one go has just been answered. If passed by the Massachusetts legislature, it will certainly place an indelible and permanent stain on the state where freedom was launched. Even if the governor vetoes it, which I would think most any Republican governor would, it still etches in stone this state's destiny.
Now crisscross the far Northeast to the far Northwest. Washington State, hardly a conservative bastion by any remote stretch of the imagination, just passed a law which bans bestiality under a 5 year penalty and $10,000 fine for violation. The legislation currently awaits the governor's signature http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2002838346_bestiality02m.html .
Homosexual groups like the Human Rights Campaign, the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force and Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders, along with numerous homosexual activists and couples who got "married" in Massachusetts and Canada claimed as absurd that same sex marriage would lead to polygamy and bestiality and that the sky wasn't falling.
Well, many public officials in Canada are now claiming as a result of their same sex marriage law that passed in 2005 that the right to polygamy cannot be denied to those who embrace it. And several Massachusetts state lawmakers want the ban on bestiality to be repealed as noted by the link earlier in this article.
So who's laughing now?
Is anything more depraved than a state considering repealing its law on bestiality? And have we forgotten the homosexual abuse scandal in the Boston Archdiocese?
Hello, any Bay Staters listening?
While no crime is more heinous than taking the life of an unborn child, the introduction of legislation to repeal such a crime against nature is sure attempting to give it a run for the money.
Why does this country tolerate such trash? The blame lies at the feet of America's churches and pastors who have ignored the abortion slaughterhouses, who were silent when the homosexual pride parades and gay/straight alliances came to their towns and schools, who didn't show up at townhall meetings to discuss these issues and failed to hold their elected officials' feet to the fire. True, some of them fought the adult bookstores, porn shops and so-called gentlemen's clubs. But they largely have ignored the two most defining issues of our day — the sanctity of life and the perversion of the homosexual agenda. And they have ignored them to our peril. And society ends up in the gutter because bestiality may no longer be criminalized.
Yet protesting against abortion clinics in the state will still be severely restricted.
Sure, we can blame our elected officials in Washington as well as our state legislatures for many of the bad laws we have on our books today. They no doubt deserve it. But when the smoke clears, it's the churches responsibility to ensure the nation's morality. And they have been derelict in their duties. And the pastors of these churches must be held accountable.
Unfortunately, some of our houses of worship have embraced the issues we are working to correct. Groups like the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice have snatched up denominations like the Church of Christ, Presbyterian Church USA and the Episcopal church in buying "a woman's right to choose." Some of these denominations have also bought into the notion of same sex marriage and the above homosexual groups and the ACLU have worked to rally them to their side to convince America that denying their right to marry is discriminatory and violates equal rights.
Folks, we have our work cut out for us. The two minute warning in the 4th quarter of the football game has arrived. Serious damage has been done to our moral infrastructure. The facts cannot be denied. Those in the pews and the ministers leading them have punted the football one too many times. What will it take for them to get the ball back and wake?
Or are they fast asleep? I fear many are.
We can reverse course if we're serious and united. But we need everyone who loves God and country to be counted now. The left has won way too many battles because we haven't shown up. Showing up is half the battle. However, at this stage we need to do more than just show up.
Readers, share this article with your pastors this Sunday, especially if they aren't the activist type. Who knows, they might just wake up. We need them more than ever.
It is vitally important that America's elected officials secure our borders, defend our national security and keep terrorists out of America. However, most of us fear losing God's protective covering and that is why we must protect the unborn at all costs, stop the homosexual agenda and return God to every aspect of our life in America. To lose God's protection is infinitely worse than losing human protection of our land. And we can ill afford to now.
Embrace depravity or drive a stake thru it? The choice we make today will likely ensure this nation's destiny one way or another for decades and even centuries to come. I pray we make the right one and act on it today.
