Blue devil with a Muslim dress on
By Larry Klayman

Look at Molly now – here she comes
Wearin' her wig and shades to match
She's got her high-heel shoes and an alligator hat ...
She's the devil with the blue dress, blue dress, blue dress
Devil with the blue dress on

– Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels ("Devil with the Blue Dress On"), sung by the Duke band at sporting events

I was once a proud Blue Devil, having graduated from Duke University in 1973, ironically on the same day as Ken Starr, a Clinton adversary. Both of us, many years later, would fight in parallel the corruption of Bill and Hillary Clinton. During the Clinton years, Starr was a government independent counsel, and yours truly was a self-appointed people's independent counsel. Given the events of the last week at my alma mater, I may now be poised to legally take on the ultra-leftist, out-of-control and corrupt administration of this national university.

Because Duke panicked years ago and joined in the chorus of politically and racially motivated false accusations that its lacrosse team had raped an African-American stripper at a party – a charge later discredited but which severely harmed the white young men involved – the school should know better than to move from furthering a race war into the even more volatile ongoing religious war between Muslims and the rest of us.

This week it was reported that Duke, having its main campus built in the shape of a cross, had sanctioned a Muslim call to prayer at its Methodist neo-gothic cathedral, with full amplification of the prayer for all to hear. However, just days later, after the Rev. Franklin Graham and others called for alumni to cut off donations if this plan were put into effect, Duke partially pulled the "Islamic plug," not because of so-called religious principle, but because of political correctness, pure greed, and economics. Indeed, recent headlines regarding this Duke tragedy should read, "Christian university bows down to terrorist threats and intimidation."

Here is what Fox News reported about this sordid event:

"Duke University has abandoned its plan to transform the bell tower on the Methodist school's neo-gothic cathedral into a minaret where the Muslim call to prayer was to be publicly broadcast.

"'Duke remains committed to fostering an inclusive, tolerant and welcoming campus for all of its students,' university spokesman Michael Schoenfeld said in a statement. 'However, it was clear that what was conceived as an effort to unify (sic) was not having the intended effect.'

"The first adhan, or call to prayer, had been scheduled to be broadcast on Jan. 16. University officials said, the Islamic chant, which includes the words 'Allahu Akbar' would have been moderately amplified – in both English and Arabic.

"However, the decision brought a firestorm of national criticism from a number of high-profile leaders including Franklin Graham, the son of famed evangelist Billy Graham.

"'This is a Methodist school, and the money for that chapel was given by Christian people over the years so that the student body would have a place to worship the God of the Bible,' Graham said in a telephone interview....'

"'Members of the Muslim community will now gather on the quadrangle outside the Chapel, a site of frequent interfaith programs and activities,' Schoenfeld said.

"The university did not say whether the Muslim call to prayer would be 'moderately amplified' at the new location.

"Christy Lohr Sapp, Duke's associate dean for religious life, heralded the Muslim call to prayer in a column to be published by the NewsObserver.com."

– Todd Stearns, "Duke Backs Down, Cancels Muslim Call to Prayer from Chapel Tower," FoxNews.com, Jan. 15, 2015

Ms. Sapp, aptly surnamed, apparently is a leftist blinded by the reality that Islam is not a legitimate religion, but instead a perverted movement of Muhammad. To this day, thousands of years after its inception, Islam – and not just "radical Islam" – advocates, in essence, that all nonbelievers be killed as infidels. Neither Ms. Sapp nor Duke's administration have admitted that public prayer with loudspeakers, even on the quad in front of the chapel, represents hugely disruptive public and private legal nuisances to the otherwise peaceful and serene persona of my alma mater, where students are trying to quietly study in the main library just a few feet away. Such loud public prayer is obnoxious, offensive and represents "disturbing the peace" – notwithstanding that it has already provoked threats of violence given the current state of Muslim ISIS-inspired terrorist attacks in the United States, Canada, France, Great Britain, and now Belgium.

Duke's chapel is a consecrated Christian house of worship. If Muslims want to pray and shout from the hilltops, "Allahu Akbar," let them do it in their hometown mosque, and leave in peace a Christian university founded on the God of the Bible.

Indeed, these are the legal causes of action – public and private nuisances – which I have used to sue to stop the completion of the Ground Zero Mosque in New York City, a case that is ongoing to this day – given the mosque's documented ties to terrorism and terrorist groups. I have also sued the Ground Zero Mosque's former Imam Rauf and his allegedly Jewish lawyer, who defamed my client, Vincent Forras – a valiant first responder on September 11 who is dying slowly form the toxic fumes he inhaled that day while buried under the rubble – by calling us enemies of Islam and Nazis, thereby putting a Fatwa on our heads, a la Iran's calls to kill famed writer Salmon Rushdie for his publication of his book "The Satanic Verses," which criticized Muhammad.

This Duke affair is sadly consistent with the blind and destructive political correctness of many leftist universities and think tanks, notwithstanding our president's viral soft spot for his fellow Muslims. But what irks me the most is that my alma mater, of which I was once proud, is no longer the "Devil with the Blue Dress On," but instead, Mitch Ryder's "Molly" is now sporting a sinister, black mask replete with a burqa.

I do not intend to sit back and watch Duke's reputation and standing as a premiere institution for higher learning be destroyed. Contact me if you are a Duke alumnus or donor and want to take legal action.
