Democrat advises illegal aliens to vote
By Jim Kouri

In the midst of a heated congressional race in California, the Democrat Party candidate was heard advising a crowd she knew were illegal aliens to vote and work for her campaign.

Democrat Francine Busby supports the bipartisan immigration reform plan that Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) helped create with Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-MA). Busby believes that the amnesty serves as the heart of the legislation approved by the Senate last week.

For that, Busby has been hammered by her Republican opponent, who opposes attempts to offer legal status to any illegal immigrant in the United States.

Rep. Brian Bilbray, the Republican nominee is getting some assistance in a nationally watched June 6 runoff election to replace Randy "Duke" Cunningham, who is in prison for taking bribes. That assistance is coming from Busby as a result of her recorded remarks to a group of illegal aliens that they should vote.

When one of the illegal aliens is heard on the recording saying he has "no papers," Busby replied he doesn't need documentation.

The story came to light last Thursday, when Busby told a Latino crowd that "everybody" can help her campaign. She is heard on a recording saying, "Everybody can help, yeah, absolutely, you can all help. You don't need papers for voting, you don't need to be a registered voter to help."

Busby quickly issued a statement: "I was clarifying the question that was being asked in Spanish and then stated that you do not have to be a registered voter to help the campaign because there were many people who appeared to be to be under 18 in the group who wanted to volunteer," she was quoted as saying.

However, she's heard clearly on the recording saying, "You don't need papers for voting...."

Technically, Busby is correct. In most states people register to vote without showing identification and proof of citizenship. On the registration form one merely checks off a box indicating the registrant is a citizen without verification.

During the enormous protests and rallies by illegal aliens and their supporters in cities across the nation, Democrat Party "activists" were observed registering voters and urging them to choose the Democrat Party. The activists claimed they only registered citizens, but they could not verify citizenship since they never asked for verification documents.

States which have attempted to pass legislation for citizen verification during voter registration have met stiff resistance from the Democrat Party, the American Civil Liberties Union, and illegal alien advocates.

While Busby is a Democrat, there have been reports that some Republicans favor having non-citizens vote, including New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg. Bloomberg also opposes voter ID verification.

"This is exactly the kind of thing that has been happening across the country. Illegal aliens are registered by left-wing activists — people who have no idea what they're being told," said political analyst Mike Baker.

"These are the same people who oppose laws making it mandatory that registrants prove they are citizens and eligible to vote. It's about garnering votes from people who are illegal aliens or people who are laying in cemeteries," Baker quipped.
