Political triage
It really is about saving the country
By Tom Kovach

In some ways, the 2006 elections caused a "traumatic injury" to American politics. The balance of power was suddenly shifted to the Democrats, who are already talking about implementing certain Socialist policies. (As I wrote in "Less Guns, More Tyranny", the Communist Party of the USA encouraged their members to vote for Democrats, instead of running their own candidates, as the best way of implementing Communist policies.) Let's perform a "triage" of the damage to America.

Political injuries

Amputation:
via judicial activism, our body politic has suffered amputation of the "original intent" view of the Constitution. Without that foundational viewpoint, everything else is subject to change. It is the political equivalent of losing at least one leg above the knee. Severe bleeding: because of the amputation, our government has incurred financial obligations for things that are nowhere in the Constitution. Benjamin Franklin said, "When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the Republic." Our national treasury is bleeding at a rate that has already weakened us, and can literally kill America. Severely weakened immune system: a body is protected by its immune system, and the skin is the first line of defense. A country is protected by its security forces, and its border is the first line of defense. Our current president encourages porous borders, and hinders our Border Patrol. Resulting infection: many injured people die by infection. Our country is infected with illegal aliens, who desire to turn America into a mythical state called Aztlan. And, so far, our country also refuses to punish employers that hire illegal aliens. Self-defense reflex suppressed: the anti-America crowd (led largely by the Progressive Caucus) has shriveled our military, while increasing their foreign tasks, to the point that more American troops guard the borders of other countries than guard the borders of America. Anorexia nervosa: in a human body, this is "starving one's self to death" — usually due to a false sense that one is overweight. In our national body, we are starved for petroleum, the life-blood of American industry. But we are refusing to drill for oil beneath our own feet — out of a false sense that we are hurting our planet.

are you convinced?

The damage to the American body politic is, indeed, life-threatening. It needs immediate care. With our self-defense reflex suppressed, there is evidence of political hypoglycorrhacia — normal brain function diminishes, despite vital signs that appear normal. We in America are telling ourselves that everything is fine, but it is not. We are, indeed, in mortal danger.

what to do about it?

Our national body politic needs to be "stabilized" — returned to normal. The vision of our American founders was that "normal" would be defined by the Constitution. The two political parties in power have tossed the Constitution aside. (Indeed, our sitting president thinks that it's "just a g--d---- piece of paper!") We are in a life-threatening emergency; therefore, we need treatment by those that have been trained for emergencies.

call in the troops!

America has a group of citizens that have been trained to deal with emergencies. That same group has proven its patriotism repeatedly. That group, quite literally, could be the last best hope of the America that we grew up knowing. That group is our military veterans.

Led by a retired Air Force general, the newly-formed National Veterans Coalition is determined to save America by organizing our military veterans into a cohesive political force. Under the motto "We'll defend it still...", the NVC is an outreach of the national Constitution Party. Of the eight national political parties recognized by the Federal Election Commission, the CP is the third-largest, and is the only one that is dedicated to one-hundred percent security of our American borders.

The NVC is open to active military members, former military members, and their immediate families. It is led by a ten-member National Executive Committee (of which this writer is a member). The NVC seeks to mobilize our 26 million veterans into a political voice that cannot be ignored. And, all it takes to join is $20 and a click of the mouse. (Veterans get a reduced-fee CP membership, concurrent with NVC membership.)

If our veterans cannot save this country from a Socialist future, then perhaps no one can.
