Dear President Keyes...
What direction will America choose in this election?

Dear President Keyes:

Thank you for the invitation to attend your inauguration yesterday, and the party last night. Given the tone of similar festivities for certain other elected officials, I really appreciated the more dignified tone that your celebration evoked. The pundits of the "lamestream" news media said that you didn't stand a chance. And, of course, they were making that prediction based upon their prideful assessment of their own ability to steer public opinion. They thought that they could ignore you into oblivion; and, they had almost succeeded at one point. They knew that, considering your amazing oratorical skills, giving you even a small opportunity to speak to the general public would be all it would take to undo their support of the Socialist agenda.

It was brilliantly ironic the way it happened. The Left forced our citizens to accept distasteful Leftist "remedies" to the problems that the Left had created. When they boosted unemployment — the natural consequence of artificially raising the minimum wage — then they steered people toward accepting various state-run lottery games as a "solution" to their financial woes. When they destroyed true healthcare progress by forcing moral citizens to pay for abortion via tax subsidies, their "solution" was to create state-run insurance programs (which were managed, of course, by politically-connected cronies inside the biggest insurance companies — thus creating a non-competitive monopoly that is the exact opposite of what the Democrats purported to create). When the former party of "loyal opposition" decided to remold themselves into "Democrat Lite," you left the Republican Party and millions of people followed. And, when one of those people — an abortion survivor, who became unemployed because her company could no longer afford her skills because they were paying too much in mandatory minimum wage for entry-level workers — won the lottery and created a 501(c)(4) organization to promote a moral agenda and support you for president, the political leaders of the Left were beside themselves with fear! It only took one person — spending their newfound wealth for the greater national good, instead of upon selfish indulgences — to turn the tide of this year's wacky presidential elections. And, when people started maximizing their voting power, by giving just one dollar each, on a monthly basis, to that organization, then the Keyes campaign was infused with hundreds of millions of dollars to get your message out. It was the Left's worst nightmare — created, of course, by the Left.

Your campaign strategy was brilliant, too. You didn't deviate from your core principles. (We all know what happened when you tried that in Chicago a few years ago, in an effort to gain the attention of the news media when you ran against Barack Obama for the open US Senate seat there. First, the media skewered you for being a conservative. Then, they skewered you even harder for appearing to become what they wanted. There is no appeasing the Left; there is only victory or defeat.) You stood up for the rights of the unborn. And, when that new non-profit organization began a concentrated ad program in Black neighborhoods, showing them the true history of the relationship between slavery, the Democratic Party, segregation, The Negro Project, and population control via abortion, then the Black churches finally stopped preaching a Socialist twist of the Gospel and started preaching a stand on moral grounds. When that happened, then the Democratic Party began to lose members over abortion as fast as the Republican Party lost them over border security a couple of years ago. And, when a few of us got together and formed an entirely new political party, then former Democrats and Republicans came together on the issues that really matter. It was grand; and, the experiment worked.

practicing true diversity

Speaking of working together, it was really amazing to see the reaction once your message about a new Border Security Service got out to the public. When the new non-profit group bought TV ads — in open mocking of Senator McCain's very unconstitutional "campaign finance reform" suppression efforts — and showed the people what's really happening on the borders, then the results were amazing. By the way, thank you for taking my advice during the transition period, and simply organizing Border Security Battalions within our existing military structure, instead of creating an entire new Service. Thanks, also, for using my idea about assigning new troops to Border Security duties immediately after Basic Training. Putting their military training to use right away — protecting their own country, instead of someone else's — is a strategy that will result in long-term motivation and retention of those troops. It was especially kind of your to use the idea from my previous Renew America piece, "'Light up' the borders!", as part of your new border-security strategy. It will give aerial gunship crews plenty of opportunity to keep their skills honed to precision.

All of those improvements would not have been possible, however, if you had not gotten help from some unlikely sources. Unlike the political Left, which masquerades "diversity" while requiring lockstep adherence to their agenda, your campaign energized a truly diverse group of supporters. First, there was the fact that you graciously allowed Rev. Chuck Baldwin to keep on publishing his columns on your Web site, even after he became your campaign rival. (The nuts and bolts of how that happened caused me to leave the Constitution Party. The fact that Howard Phillips mentioned Ron Paul's name 14 times in two minutes of a speech purportedly supporting Baldwin, and then claiming that some of Paul's millions "can become an asset to this party" [watch from 3:40 to 5:40 of this half-hour video] only underscored that my departure from the CP was correctly motivated.) The fact that you had published one of my own columns on your site, writing positively about Ron Paul, also underscored your graciousness in the face of opposition and confusion. So, it was not surprising that many Baldwin and Paul supporters began to support your campaign instead. That was the beginning of the tidal shift that led to your victory.

That shift was aided by such diverse groups as Vietnam War veterans, who became disillusioned with Paul after his remark that "Vietnam now is a friend of ours." Even though Paul has some good concepts, he does not always have practical ways to implement them. It would take a lot of space to sort the differences between you and your opponents regarding membership in the United Nations. But, the bottom line is that your victory was achieved partly by balancing our long-term national interests with our short-term entanglement in that organization. And, the voters finally woke up to the fact that no president can operate in a vacuum. When the new political party also won victories in Congress over entrenched Socialist incumbents, the victory was an endorsement of a break from the myth of a two-party system. And, once the voters realized that they didn't need to vote for either a Democrat or a Republican, you were the logical choice. (Chuck Baldwin has many good ideas. But, when the founder of his own party kept praising Ron Paul during his speech for Baldwin, many Constitutionists decided to look elsewhere.)

A real plus for your campaign came when many Jewish leaders got behind your campaign. There was division among their ranks, because so many "non-practicing" Jews — especially in Hollyweird — support the Leftist political agenda while hiding behind their ethnicity. But, when it came down to questions of true Biblical morality, the more conservative factions within Judaism took a stand. And, when they did, they pointed out the differences between an "ethnic Jew" and a "religious Jew." Biblical morality won. Of course, when voters found out about how racist Christian Identity groups support Ron Paul, that boosted your chances. (I walked away from my network talk show because of the disportionate number of Jew-hating callers on that network, which strongly supports Ron Paul.) Of the three most conservative candidates for president, only you have actual government experience in policies that protect Israel.

un-rigging the fix

The most amazing shift in support, though, came from moral-minded Libertarians. They are adamant about personal freedom; but, they disagree with their party's position on abortion. What were they to do? Sure, they could've voted for Rev. Baldwin. But, most Libertarians would not want to elect a preacher to any public office. (And, many non-Libertarians agree.) When their own party did not nominate Ron Paul, that wing of the Libertarian Party felt betrayed, and then they came to the Keyes camp. And, when they came, they brought with them their research and knowledge of how electronic voting machines are rigged.

So, when a few of those ex-Libertarians got together and showed how the Iowa Republican Caucus was apparently rigged to suppress Keyes votes, the GOP went into a panic. That evidence caused the more moderate Republicans to leave the GOP, which is in the process of moving into much smaller offices in the wake of your inauguration.

When large numbers of my fellow military veterans began to get on board with your campaign, they took that message to another unlikely political hinge point: biker bars. Late in the campaign, I even gave a few impromptu speeches on your behalf in such locations. Your messages of gun rights, border security, and personal liberty rang loud and clear in the biker bars — just as they did in VFW halls, county fairs, car shows, ladies' teas, church picnics, and hunting lodges.

Oddly, one of the most difficult segments to reach was the Black population. The Democratic Party has done quite a job of convincing "Black leaders" that the only way to live well is on the Socialist dole. And, those leaders have done quite a job leading their own people into the sheep pen. But, when a chance meeting on the streets of Nashville put you into an impromptu debate with Harold Ford, Jr., when both of you just happened to be in town on vacation, and a local TV crew put the results on the air, then the Black voters threw off the chains of the Democratic Party and got busy helping you become president.

And, as the saying goes, "the rest is history."

one small favor

Now that you are president, could I ask you one small favor? You see, the sudden termination of my Air Force career was illegal. I was "downsized" in the wake of Operation Desert Storm ... after I had blown the whistle on an illegal environmental dumping incident that was supervised by the base commander at my last base. The Democrats claim to be "for the environment"; but, not one elected official — whether Democrat or Republican — has done anything to correct the gross injustice that was done to me. The "justification" on my discharge certificate does not exist in any military personnel manual; and, I was discharged without a required physical examination. I qualified for a 40 percent disability rating from the VA, but was never even sent before a review board to be considered for a medical retirement. In the wake of my illegal discharge, with the illegal statement on my discharge certificate, I was unable to get many well-paying jobs for which I was qualified. As a result, when the money ran out, so did my first wife. Since that time, I've even written about military whistleblowers and other good citizens who have had their careers damaged for doing what is right. In fact, there have been so many injustices done to whistleblowers that any large-scale campaign to make things right might put a severe strain on the Federal budget. For example, Uncle Sam owes me more than a half-million dollars in back promotions and back pay. Oddly, there was enough money in the budget to give the base commander two promotions and a full retirement. All it would take is one executive order. That would not only help make up for some of the injustices that I've suffered, but it would also send a signal to unsavory supervisors that the president will not tolerate illegal reprisals against subordinates that stand up for what is right.

But, even without the big money, thanks for the invitation to the inaugural ball, President Keyes. Take good care of the country. I know there is a lot of mess to clean up. Let me know if I can help.
