Dem's 'Green Initiative', if enacted, will create financial chaos across the country

As a former community college finance professor, I am alarmed that so many Congressional Representatives have endorsed the new 'Green Initiative' proposed by newly elected Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Ms. Ocasio-Cortez's initiative calls for a radical restructuring of our energy sources including eventual elimination of our entire gas and oil industries. Of course this will affect our car industry also. There are millions of Americans on both sides of the continent who will be negatively affected if this initiative is enacted by Congress. Taxis, traditional bus services, air travel and transportation would be radically affected. There is NO way that solar power can fully supply our energy needs in this country of 300+ million residents. Even in California, where there are numerous solar systems already, this technology has not significantly impacted our need for gasoline and heating services.

Yes, this country will gradually gravitate to varied energy sources by the end of the next decade but not fast enough for the Ocasio-Cortez 'end of civilization' time table. This extreme leftist Representative from New York claims that civilization will end in 12 years due to 'global warming' if we do not enact an initiative like her 'Green Initiative.'

Additionally, her call for physically restructuring EVERY building in this country in every town and city across our land so as to conform to her proposal's new efficiency requirements is not only totally unrealistic but financially impossible. Experts have estimated that it will cost America and U.S. taxpayers in general $93 trillion dollars to achieve this goal.

The current national debit is $22 trillion. As someone who promotes society and individuals to live within our means, this proposal is as impractical as it is insane. Already the national debt is growing by close to $1 million dollars every minute of the day. For our elected officials to promote 'the Green Initiative' is financial suicide.

If Representative Ocasio-Cortez really cares about the younger generation she would be concerned for that generation's financial future. Already our country and its taxpayers are paying hundreds of billions in interest to bond holders each year. If this 'Green Initiative' is ever enacted by this radical group of Democrats, it would spell chaos for this country.

Alarmingly a number of the declared Democrat candidates for President (for 2020) support Socialism or parts of the philosophy of Socialism as a future path for this country.

Socialism would cause our society to depend on government and government aid. Our country's greatness is based on free enterprise and the ability of our citizens to choose for themselves the financial direction they will take in their lives.

Excessive government control and regulation would deprive its citizens of the freedom to choice. Over the last 15 years our federal government has shown that it is financially out of control. The government deficit has grown by almost three times during that time period in both Democrat and Republican administrations. Our leaders in Washington D.C. don't fully understand that a growing deficit will fatally hurt future generations as well as the retiring population which has faithfully paid into their social security trust fund for decades.

I am hopeful that Americans will see (after reviewing this proposal) that radical initiatives like the Rep. Alexandria Osacio-Cortez 'Green Initiative' will only damage our country not help it. This initiative (or even one similar to it that these radical Democrats will offer) will cause the death of our society as we know it.
