It's the platform stupid
By Robert Meyer

Now with the debates behind us, you probably have additional reasons why you won't vote for John Kerry.

A whole host of reasons have been brought to light from various sources. I hear everyday some talk radio pundit bark about Senator Kerry's atrociously liberal voting record over the past two decades. We hear that his votes show him to be weak on defense and strong on raising taxes. A legislative legacy of little notable accomplishment

The Swift boat Veterans have questioned Kerry's service record, and label him unfit to lead this country. We know that Kerry was an anti-war activist after his service in the navy, and his antics may have made things tougher for POW's treated inhospitably at the Hanoi Hilton.

There is the demonstrative changeability of his positions, which should give anyone the creeps who is trying to figure where Kerry stands today The spirit of outrage consuming Kerry's supporters, who are so blinded in their antipathy toward Bush, that they seem not to mind the perpetual movement from pillar to post. Kerry must be held in derision for claiming that Bush mislead America on Iraq, yet failed to stand up and be counted for making strong statements in relying on the same flawed intelligence reports.

There is that aura of northeastern smugness which seems to scream out, "I'm an elite member of society-who are you?" His demeanor reeks of a man with great expectations, but little substance behind the persona. The clear mark of a politician, not a statesman.

We can't forget the litany of imprudent remarks made by the woman who would be First Lady — not something I fantasize about. Pardon me-I'll just go ahead and shove it!

With few notable exceptions, democratic candidates' religious convictions seems to be strained, and as authentic as genuine imitation leather. An unforgiving oxymoron in full regalia. I certainly can't see into a man's heart or judge the sincerity of his beliefs, but Kerry's "Godspeak" was unpersuasive. One can only wonder how important religious beliefs are to Kerry, when he openly legislates against the tenets of his faith.

In the presidential campaign the last time around, there was an urban legend about Al Gore that is currently being applied to Kerry. It goes like this: Gore/Kerry gave a speech about the importance of religious faith to their lives. The favorite scripture cited was John 16:3 (rather than John 3:16). The rub was that the campaign handlers were so biblically illiterate, that they never detected the gaffe of transposing the famous passage in his speech. Then readers are exhorted to read the irony of what John 16:3 actually says. But the sad fact is that the myth is supported by the perceptions of reality regarding these men.

Any time a candidate says that he has these profound religious beliefs, which he can't impose on anyone else, yet they greatly influence him, you know you have heard hallow sloganeering. You can't trust anyone who spouts such meaningless prattle. Can you imagine some liberal politician saying; "I believe strongly in gun control, but I can't impose my beliefs on someone who says the Second Amendment gives him the right to bear arms, therefore I must vote no on this gun-control legislation."

Yes Kerry has warts, but the real problem is the democratic platform

It is a platform that is pro-abortion, and places personal autonomy above the right to life, while never considering that the uncertainty over when live begins is a caution sign, not a green light. It is one that has depicted the stem cell debate as progressives vs. Luddites, never telling people about the adult stem cell alternatives. Such a platform in operation has seen fit to filibuster judges whose main crime is that they view their judicial duties as limited to "interpreting" the Constitution, and not law-making.

This is a party that plays on the covetous nature of man, by pitting socioeconomic classes against one another — an egalitarianism that brings the top down, rather than creating a tide to lift all boats. They court watered-down versions of Marxist economics in their preferred tax and social policies.

The Democrats talk about "working families," then take a stance that devalues marriage, by opening it up to alternative lifestyles. They talk about being pro-choice, then give you none on education of children, rights of self-defense as outlined in the Second Amendment, or on issues such as health care (they vote no on medical savings accounts coupled with catastrophic protection). There is no common sense or leadership in solving the foreseeable Social Security dilemma.

The modern democratic party has consistantly taken positions that are weak on defense and short on morality — two aspects that make us more vulnerable to terrorism. We stir the outrage of their common citizens with our decadence, and then we lack the resources and intelligence to battle the militant minority.

Yes Kerry has many blemishes, but no matter who the democrats put out there; it's the platform stupid!
