Washing of hands
By Darla Meyers

On a voice vote, Pilate asked the people whom he should release: Jesus or Barabbas. On a voice vote, the majority of the people responded, Crucify Him. We know the rest of the story. Pilate, fearing a revolt, washed his hands of the popular vote that condemned Jesus to death. Pilate and the people brought upon themselves the shedding of Innocent Blood. The Prophesy had to be fulfilled, but I am positive that the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mary Magdalene and John were not in the majority voice vote.

During this election season, we are witnessing the Washing of Hands. The shedding of innocent blood of thousands, maybe millions of children imprisoned in Petri dishes throughout this country could begin. Both top Presidential candidates have publicly stated they would sign these childrens' death warrants. As so-called pro-life people stump for McCain, in the interests of full disclosure, I wonder if the public statements of McCain are being fully and truthfully disclosed. How often do you think the following conversation takes place?

McCain Supporter to Undecided Voter: Will you vote for John McCain?

Undecided Voter: Why should I vote for McCain?

McCS: Because he puts "country first."

UV: Okay. Is there anything else I should know about McCain?

McCS: Well, there is the little issue of McCain stating he would do what no other President has done in the history of the United States. He wants to force taxpayers to pay for the experimentation and extermination of little babies in Petri dishes for medical promises that have been proven false. Only ethical adult stem cell research has realized success.

UV: (Pause) Are you telling me that you want me to vote for a President who wants to kill innocent little boys and girls with my money?

McCS: But McCain is the lesser of two evils! We have no choice! We must elect McCain because the other is worse!

UV: You want me to be an accomplice to the deaths of innocent children with my vote?

McCS: Define "accomplice."

UV: According to Webster's Dictionary: "One who aids or abets a lawbreaker in a criminal act, either as a principal or an accessory." Are you not enticing people to become accomplices in the criminal act of killing children by our vote?

McCS: If you wash your hands after your vote, you'll be okay.

Before 1973, pre-Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, some of the leadership of the various Faiths in the United States were rightly criticized for not speaking out against the culture of death in this country. How can we, with a well-formed conscience, criticize those leaders of the past when we are doing the same now? How many of us are speaking out boldly, under the threat of white martyrdom, about the injustices of both candidates publicly stating they will kill our innocent embryonic brothers and sisters?

How many of us, in trying to get people to vote for a candidate, make sure people understand that we are supporting a candidate who is for the taxpayer-funded murder of our embryonic brothers and sisters and those who had no choice as to how they were conceived? How many of us are explaining that killing a child in a Petri dish is no different than killing a child on the street? Ultimately, we will all stand before God and be held accountable.

Will you be washing your hands after you vote?
