For Democrats to win, America must fail
By Barbara J. Stock

Senator Carl Levin, D-MI, came to my town. He came to speak to political science majors at our local college. What did he tell these college kids? "[America] shouldn't be there [in Iraq] as a controlling power." He scoffed at the money requested by President Bush to help the fledging democracy rebuild. In short, it sounded as though he wants Iraq to fail. If Iraq fails, Bush fails. If Bush fails, Democrats win. He didn't seem to care about the fate of the Iraq people or the benefit of having a stable and democratic Iraq in the Middle East. That was not a priority. The important factor for him was to convince these young people that Republicans are leading the country into ruin. Only Democrats can rescue the country from certain disaster. Only Democrats can get the U.S. back in the good graces of world opinion.

In short, the Bush Administration must fail.

How many times have we heard "Bush had a plan for winning the war, but no plan for winning the peace." The media has done what it does best. They report the bad and never the good. Politicians have been flooding back from both parties' amazed at how well "the peace" is going in Iraq, but the hierarchy of the Democrat party refuses to acknowledge any post war success. In the leftist world of the Democrat party, we must fail in Iraq. If convincing the public that American tax dollars are being wasted to prop up a lost cause that is what they will do. The people of Iraq are inconsequential.

When President Bush placed North Korea in the axis of evil, he knew they had nuclear weapons. He knew they had them because of the failed policy of democrat Bill Clinton. The Democrats howled and screamed in fury. Clinton's policy was working. They claimed that North Korea, upon hearing the insult and in a fit of anger, ran to the basement and made those weapons overnight. Even though North Korea gleefully admitted they had these weapons for years, the Democrats dismiss that admission. In the face of a national threat to the continental United States, they vehemently deny their policy of appeasement failed. A rogue communist state now has weapons with which it can attack its neighbors, our own West coast and sell to terrorists but still, they refuse to admit that it was a democrat President's failed foreign policy that has put this country in danger.

I have heard Senator John Kerry repeat over and over that the unemployment rate is the highest it's been "since Herbert Hoover." This is simply a lie. In September 2003, unemployment was 6.1. Under Bill Clinton in June of 1993, it was 7.0. In December of 1982 it hit 10.8 before President Reagan was able to turn around the disaster called the Carter Administration. But the lie is repeated over and over to try and convince the people that Bush's economic plan is not working. All indicators say otherwise. The Stock Market is once again approaching 10,000, but they perpetuate the lie that we are in dire straights to frighten the uninformed. They pray for a self fulfilling prophesy. They want the economy to fail.

The mantra of "tax cuts for the rich" is pounded into our brains day after day. Apparently, I am rich in the eyes of today's Democrat party. With a yearly income of less than $50,000, I saw a considerable tax cut. If the Democrats are to win in 2004, the economy of our country must be in decline. Despite the hardships it would inflict on the people, they will do everything they can to see that the economy fails. If the economy is doing well, they will lie and say that it is the worst in American history and pray that enough people believe them.

Whether it is our national security, our economy or groveling to the U.N., selling out our sovereignty and security so that we will be "liked" around the world, the democrats are ready to forfeit it all for power. They excel in ignoring that Iraq is already years ahead of the U.N. controlled mess in Kosovo in mere months because we are in charge.

Their plan for America is to increase taxes, punish those who succeed and nurture those who desire socialism.

President Kennedy said he wanted to put an American on the moon,"not because it's easy, but because it's hard." A party that once put American pride and honor first has decayed into a party that hopes Americans suffer, actively work to that end, so they can regain their power. They are willing to sacrifice an entire country to that end.

From Camelot to "The Great Society", which heralded their move towards socialism, this once great party has gone from being pro-American to being pro-Democrat Party whose only interest is their power. They are ashamed that the U.S. is the only surviving super power. They are embarrassed that we are successful. Their progressive goals seem to mirror that of France. If that puts us in the crosshairs of terror attacks and on the road to ruin they don't seem to care. Reclaiming their power is all that matters. How sad for them and dangerous for our country.
