Do not trust Hillary's 'Christian' ties
By Grant Swank

There are those who state that Hillary Clinton has personal, well-treasured social and spiritual ties with biblical believers, even attending their Bible studies and prayer groups.

Bottom line: If this is so in that such ties change her theology from anti-Bible to pro-Bible, then Hillary would have changed her conclusions regarding such ethical issues as abortion.

If Hillary has been biblically influenced by these evangelical-types, then she would wed with biblical morality. Concerning abortion, it would mean that Hillary would change from pro-killing womb babies to defending womb babies.

The latest opportunity she had to make public that change would have been the Supreme Court decision banning post-birth abortions. What was Hillary's public statement to that? She cried out that the Court had made a terrible mistake. Barack Obama made the same anguished cry. They are a liberal couplet who have fallen way off the leftish charts long ago.

What then is one to make of her relations with so-called biblical believers? It appears that she is with them on occasion in order to straddle the fence, playing her usual opportunistic games at courting evangelicals while all the time being outright theological liberal.

And don't be swayed by her touting her Methodist childhood and the particular influence of one of her youth-days clergy friends. That really means nothing solid for God.

Old-time Methodists are today's biblical believers who wage war with liberal intrusions within their own denomination. Old-time Methodists in Hillary's youth also included theologically liberal clergy. So saying "Methodist" does not automatically baptize it as biblically sound.

"For 15 years, Hillary Clinton has been part of a secretive religious group that seeks to bring Jesus back to Capitol Hill. Is she triangulating — or living her faith?

"It was an elegant example of the Clinton style, a rhetorical maneuver subtle, bold, and banal all at once. During a Democratic candidate forum in June, hosted by the liberal evangelical group Sojourners, Hillary Clinton fielded a softball query about Bill's infidelity: How had her faith gotten her through the Lewinsky scandal?

"After a glancing shot at Republican 'Pharisees,' Clinton explained that, of course, her 'very serious' grounding in faith had helped her weather the affair. But she had also relied on the 'extended faith family' that came to her aid, 'people whom I knew who were literally praying for me in prayer chains, who were prayer warriors for me,'" per Kathryn Joyce and Jeff Sharlet of Mother Jones.

By the way, to speak of Sojourners as "the liberal evangelical group" is nonsense. If one is evangelical, one is not liberal. One is theologically conservative. Sojourners has been known to appear evangelical while in reality often leaning far too much in the left direction.

Back to Ms. Clinton: Hillary is as smooth as the Pharisees she criticizes within the Republican party. She may be smoother, actually. She knows the evangelical jargon. She states the biblical language, even to quoting Scripture to her convenience. Count in her number, for instance, both Carters, Obama, Sharpton, Jackson, Edwards, Dean, and hubby Clinton.

But until she changes her position on abortion and practicing homosexuality, for starters, she is the same political and theological liberal she and Bill have always been.

In other words, don't trust Hillary when she Bible speaks.
