Spain: Radical Islam's West Bank
By Johnny D. Symon
In "Murder and the Numbers Game" last week, I made allusion to the Islamic State of Al Andalus. Al qaeda have recently promised to re-take the region and re-establish that once independent Islamic golden State. I say independent because Islamic unity was gone by AD 770. Al Andalus was, and is still, seen as the West Bank ('udwa) of Islam. Al qaeda have pledged to regain the "West Bank." But there lies in wait a big problem for radical Islam and their impossible dream, the problem being that the Golden Age of Al Andalus was not crafted and built by excrement like themselves, for the Muslims who built the independent State of Al Andalus were from different stock; Moors and Berbers.
Some of my best and closest friends happen to be Berber. I've never encountered this type of human being anywhere else in the world. One of my buddies, Mustafa, would readily hand over all of his property to me if I asked for it. He's the most honest person I've ever met, and supremely intelligent. Most of his working week ends up by him sorting out everyone else's problems for them. It's a pastime he does not charge for. Mustafa and those like him, are the remnants of old Andalus and as scattered, few and far between as they are, they still are part of Andalusia's solution and not it's problem. The problem facing a perceived Christian, or Catholic, Spain, is simply a lack of the will to fight for what they see as their property. Islam in all its forms is not to blame for Western instability, although it sure does take advantage of a weak, disparate people and their cowardly leaders.
Yesterday I paid a visit to a Christian friend of mine, a German guy who oversees one of the biggest Christian charity stores in Southern Spain. We discussed connected topics from Christianity to Islam. My friend was deeply concerned over the murders in Turkey of workers in a Christian publishing house, and he told me that recently some local Islamics suffered a bout of radical fervor and threw a rock at one of his plate glass windows. Those windows are glassed to the tune of twelve foot long and ten foot high. The rock impacted hard enough to produce a three foot crack, top right of that thick plate glass. He saw this act for what it was; a desire to hurt, or possibly kill.
The Golden Age of Al Andalus, prior to 1492, was a unique haven with good government and a strong rule of law. Relative harmony existed between the Jews, Christians, and Muslims, in fact the Jews worked closely with the Islamic leaders and helped to stabilize the community. In those days Al Andalus was an independent, even isolated, corner of the Islamic world. Feudalism and a hunger for power fragmented and weakened Islam throughout North Africa, but Al Andalus was different; stability was the order of the day, therefore a form of religious harmony and intercourse enabled the region to survive and thrive for hundreds of years.
Originally Al Andalus stretched from the extreme South of Spain and Portugal, all the way up to the borders of Asturias in the North West, and Catalonia in the East. But this was short-lived, as the Northern peoples, predominantly Christian, were more than ready to take on the Moors. They fought long and hard, relentlessly regaining ground southwards until only Andalusia remained as Islam's stronghold on Spanish soil. But even the remaining southern section succumbed to its enemy from the North, and 1492 was the final end for Spanish Islam.
Al qaeda may well realize their dream of a new Spanish Islam, an 'udwa on the West regained, but they will not be able to take credit for it, only the weak and witless Christian/Catholic community will go down in history as a people who lacked the will to fight, and National Socialism shall be seen as the vehicle that handed over the reins of power to radical Islam. All of this shall occur because Christianity in general nowadays fails to apply the two most important items of religious conduct, namely, the application of Justice and Righteousness.
Isidore Epstein expounded on the moral law of Holiness, by stating;
"Two principles lie at the base of man's creative cooperation with God — Justice and Righteousness, Justice being the negative aspect of Holiness; Righteousness, its positive aspect. In common life, Justice meant the recognition of six fundamental rights. These were the right to live, the right of possession, the right to work, the right to clothing, the right to shelter, which includes the right to leisure and the right to liberty, as well as prohibition to hate, avenge, or bear a grudge."
I ofttimes question whether those qualities still exist in Western life. (Read Leviticus 19 and Deuteronomy 24:10,11)
Justice expresses itself in God's intolerance of evil and His punishment of sin. Divine Righteousness fulfills itself in the quality of mercy.
Socialism, Liberalism, and the perceived New World Order has permeated the minds of Christianity. It now places more energy on "forgiveness" and less on Justice, which has provided an open door for radical Islam. It's a denial of an enemy within that is leading the enemy without over the open threshold of the West. National leaders who profess to believe in God and the Bible find themselves denying Biblical prophecy through attempting to bring "peace" by political/democratic means throughout a fragmented Islamic Middle East and North Africa.
To deny Biblical prophecy is in effect a denial of the Author of the vision. In old Christendom such a political quest would be met with a charge of heresy, whereas now, in the "enlightened age" of the twenty-first century, it's most times regarded as a substitute to Biblical Justice.
To court evil is a Biblical prohibition, therefore if al qaeda find their promises fulfilled, and Al Andalus returns to the Muslim fold, it will only happen through first, the consent of its leaders, both political and spiritual, then by lack of dissent of its people.
But the new Al Andalus will bear no resemblance to its Golden Age counterpart, for its new would-be re-founders have a different vision to the one that had formed and executed the near paradise of ancient Al Andalus. A harmony between Christians, Muslims and Jews, then in existence, will not be tolerated, because Jews and Christians shall not be entertained.
My friend's fears over the recent murders in Turkey, and the rock of aggression against his charity's existence and the lives of his family, are forerunners to a greater darkness to come. We open the door and willingly allow this dark stranger to enter and set up home. We assure him that all we have is his for the asking, but unlike my good old friend, Mustafa, who knows that I'll never ask for al that is his, the other type knows that we're too stupid to refuse, and even if we did, he knows that he can count on our faith-professing, prophesy-denying, political leaders to help him out and make his dreams come true!
