Terror ahead?

"Somebody's going to be hurt or killed," warn the pundits regarding the vile insults and threats coming from the far left these days. Now we're seeing an apparent eager anticipation of just that outcome: Writing an op-ed posted by "a leftist website indirectly owned by Univision" named Splinter News, Hamilton Nolan predicts terror ahead.

"This is all going to get more extreme. And it should," he opines." As observed in an internet commentary, "a writer for a website [owned by a showbiz icon] is relishing the idea of bombs exploding in American cities."

A stretch – even for political correctness

Those who make it their business to dictate what we must say and how we are to say it remain at war with America. David Bossie, an outside adviser to President Trump, has been suspended as a contributor at Fox News. Why? He uttered a shopworn, widely accepted expression of speech. On the show Fox and Friends, Bossie and Democrat strategist Joel Payne (who is black) got into a heated argument, according to the Daily Beast. What stopped all other discussion was Bossie's response to a point made by Payne. Said Bossie: "You're out of your cotton-picking mind." (Uh-oh! Now he'd done it!)

"Aghast" – whether for real or to perpetrate an issue – Payne remarked, "I have some relatives who picked cotton." For that, Bossie was suspended as a FOX contributor. Never mind that Bossie and millions of others (over the years) have used the term "cotton-picking" not as a reference to the slaves who picked cotton in the South for no pay prior to the Civil War. It would be no surprise if that overreaction had happened on CNN or MSNBC. That FOX would bow to a silly imagined infraction to the rules of "political correctness" is a disappointment. Though it's tempting to laugh at such over-sensitivity, it's actually not a laughing matter. Beyond the clowns, there are people who fully intend to use this very same "political correctness" to control the speech of all Americans.

What exactly is a "hardcore judge?"

President Trump, as of the holiday weekend, was mulling over a list of qualified candidates for his nomination of a replacement for Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, who has announced his retirement. Among the senators offering their advice to the president are RINOs Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska.

Collins has attempted to carbon-copy the record of predecessor Margaret Chase Smith, also of Maine (during the mid-20th century). Murkowski, in an early run, actually lost the Republican primary. She then decided she would run anyway as an independent, thus earning her the opposition-mocking paid ad designation "Spoiled Princess Lisa" (noting that her father was vacating that same Senate seat). But in a three-way race, the "spoiled princess" won anyway.

President Trump is getting suggestions from these two RINOs (and others) not to appoint anyone to the high court who is "hardcore." Huh? Hardcore? You mean someone who believes that our Constitution protects the rights of Americans to such things as "freedom of speech," or the right "peacefully to assemble" or to "petition the government for a redress of grievances?" as opposed to – um – harassing people by getting in their faces publicly and spewing vile threats and insults? Hmmm? Got to watch those "hardcore" types. Can't allow them on the court. Why, they don't even know the Supreme Court is our super legislature!
