This election, 'electors' are at liberty to act as 'the nation's search committee'
ALAN KEYES — This past July, I read an article by Lisa Bloom entitled "Why the New Child Rape Case Filed Against Trump Should Not Be Ignored." It came to my mind recently when I saw the headline "Woman Claiming Trump Rape at 13 Releases video." I watched the video and read the linked Independent Journal Review article by Kayla Brandon, reporting its release.... (more)

JOHN FUND — If you think our marathon election season will end on Tuesday, you might be wrong. "Margin of litigation" is a phrase we might hear a lot after Tuesday if the presidential election is close in one or more states. It refers to the number of votes by which a candidate must win in order to prevent litigation -- and delays -- before a result is final. Both parties will have armies of lawyers deployed on Election Night looking for irregularities and opportunities to go to court.... (more)

DAILY SIGNAL — The long-term costs to taxpayers of immigrants and their descendants are detailed in a new report from the National Academy of Sciences. The findings in the report indicate that if amnesty for illegal immigrants were enacted, the government would have to raise taxes immediately by $1.29 trillion and put that sum into a high-yield bank account to cover future fiscal losses generated by the amnesty recipients and their children.... CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER — Rule of thumb for a presidential campaign where the two candidates have the highest unfavorable ratings in the history of polling: If you're the center of attention, you're losing. As Election Day approaches, Hillary Clinton cannot shake the spotlight. She is still ahead in the polls, but you know she's slipping when she shows up at a Florida campaign event with a week to go accompanied by the former Miss Universe, Alicia Machado.... (more)

ELIANA JOHNSON — In 1968, Vice President Hubert Humphrey became the Democratic presidential nominee without winning a single primary, when Party delegates snatched the nomination from Minnesota's anti-war senator, Eugene McCarthy, whom they considered a sure loser in a general election against Richard Nixon. The resulting riots, and Nixon's subsequent landslide victory in the electoral college, prompted Democrats to enact a series of reforms that diminished both parties' roles in the nominating process.... WASHINGTON EXAMINER — With no debates to parody and new scandals emerging for the Hillary Clinton camp mere days before Election Day, "Saturday Night Live" initially stuck close to its traditional political cold open, before turning into a PSA to urge viewers to vote on Nov. 8.... (more)

WASHINGTON TIMES — Secret Service agents rushed Donald Trump off the stage at a Nevada rally Saturday night after a disturbance below him in the audience. In a statement, the Secret Service said the scare was started when an "unidentified individual" shouted "gun," but that a "thorough search" turned up no weapon, reported CNN.... (more)

WASHINGTON TIMES — A Washington State Democratic presidential elector says he won't vote for Hillary Clinton even if she wins as expected the state's popular vote. ANDREW C. MCCARTHY — On Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal's Devlin Barrett published another eye-opening report about the FBI's Clinton Foundation investigation. It elaborates on the pitched battle between FBI agents who believe they are building a strong case and Justice Department prosecutors who have thrown cold water on it, erecting roadblocks that have made the agents' work much more difficult.... PAUL BREMMER — When you hear the cries of the helpless, will you stop to lend aid, or will you just sing a little louder to drown them out? That is the question confronting viewers of the powerful new short film "Sing a Little Louder."... (more)

BOB UNRUH — There's a plan under way, aided by Muslims, illegal aliens, unions and Democrats, that would create a permanent "progressive" majority in America, turning the nation into a one-party-rule country that never again would choose a conservative path.... (more)

NEWSMAX — Behind the cheerful spin the Labor Department and government talking heads put on the official monthly jobs data is a sobering reality: a more-realistic unemployment rate is probably closer to 10 percent and a wide swatch of the American public remains out of work.... (more)

WALTER WILLIAMS — If a person wants to go into business as a taxicab owner, what requirements should be imposed to protect the public? The prospective taxicab owner should show that he is honest and can operate a vehicle safely. His vehicle should pass a safety inspection, and he should have a liability insurance policy. Some cities require the purchase of an existing license, sometimes called a medallion.... (more)

WES VERNON — With all the e-mails, leaked documents, and illegalities of many kinds showering down on Americans in the final stretch of arguably the most upside down presidential election in America's history, it is not surprising that we are becoming acquainted with more characters occupying the "woodwork" of the Clinton Crime Family.... TIMOTHY P. CARNEY — It was a different guy in each neighborhood, but there was always that guy. He would knock on our door, and offer to do odd jobs for money. Sometimes he would borrow money. Often he wouldn't do the work, and he'd offer some excuse. Whatever he told you, you simply knew you couldn't trust him -- and everyone around him knew that he was up to something.... (more)

CLIFF KINCAID — One of the biggest jokes of the presidential campaign is that the WikiLeaks disclosures prove that Vladimir Putin favors Donald J. Trump for U.S. president. I'm not naive about Russia. I co-authored Back from the Dead: The Return of the Evil Empire, about a resurgent Russia. I believe there are Russian links to global Islamic terrorism. They also target the U.S. for propaganda and disinformation operations.... (more)

TIMOTHY P. CARNEY — I am a Catholic, pro-life, libertarian populist, conservative who votes in Maryland. I consider it the least interesting part of politics to choose which of these politicians is the least objectionable candidate. I think reporting on them and putting their views and records in context is more interesting and important. But I love voting. I also believe in transparency, so here I will explain my vote....
