DESERET NEWS — Republican Rep. Burgess Owens and Democratic challenger Darlene McDonald agreed on very little in a lively debate Friday that featured two Black congressional candidates for perhaps the first time in Utah. James Curry, a University of Utah political science professor who moderated the debate, said “as far as we know,” two African American candidates have never faced each other in a major political race in the state.... Correcting the record as Nov. 8 approaches
STEPHEN STONE, FOUNDER & PRESIDENT OF RENEWAMERICA — With less than a week to go before the Nov. 8 election, let’s take a quick look at the most outrageous falsehoods the Democrat-aligned media and their point man, Evan McMullin, have perpetuated to unseat Utah’s senior U.S. senator, Mike Lee. It should be obvious to anyone who’s taken the time to closely follow the Lee-McMullin race that the media are rooting for the “opportunistic gadfly” McMullin (to use Mike Lee’s appropriate label), even helping McMullin shape and disseminate his talking points. Missing from media accounts is an accurate and fair representation of relevant facts.... (more)

JERRY NEWCOMBE — In 1629, the first American balloting for an election occurred in Salem, Massachusetts. The issue? Choosing a minister and choosing a Christian teacher for the colony. “Such is the origin of the use of the ballot on this continent; [Samuel] Skelton was chosen pastor and [Francis] Higginson teacher.” So writes George Bancroft, an early American historian, on this first election on American soil in Volume I of his 6-volume, History of the United States of America (1882).... MADELINE CRABB — President Dwight D. Eisenhower once said, “The future of this republic is in the hands of the American voter.” American citizens have the privilege and duty to vote in the midterm election next week. Many of you may have already voted, but for the rest, I hope you will seriously consider the following thoughts before you go to the polls. Why not also share these admonitions with those you know who might not understand the consequences of wrong choices?... (more)

CURTIS DAHLGREN — "Prepare ye the way of the Lord." – Isaiah I DON'T KNOW if we'll live to see the Second Coming, but I do know that America is in deep doo-doo, and is in dire need of another Great Awakening. I hope to live to see that one. Maybe it will begin this November.... (more)

Phill Kline says it's going to take both parties coming together to solve this issue
JUST THE NEWS — With just a week to go before the midterm elections, there is a lack of confidence in the integrity of our elections, according to former Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline. "Not enough is being done to restore faith in the American election process," Kline said on the Monday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "We need adults to show up and to come together on common ground and work out what it takes to run a fair election and it takes this: transparency, inclusion and accountability."... (more)

WAYNE ALLYN ROOT — I'm the guy who has argued on my national radio show, two national TV shows and my syndicated newspaper columns for six months now that Democrats bet the house (literally) on the wrong horse, that this midterm election was never about abortion. It was always about inflation. I shouted from the highest rooftops that "the GOP should stick to inflation, inflation, inflation."... (more)

Ordered to ID confidential source in probe of China election-data breach
ART MOORE — A federal judge has ordered True the Vote founder Catherine Engelbrecht and researcher Gregg Phillips to identify their source in their investigation of the election software company Konnech by Monday or face jail. Earlier this month, the CEO of Michigan-based Konnech, Eugene Yu, was arrested and charged by Los Angeles County prosecutors for allegedly storing election worker data on servers based in China.... NEW YORK POST — Elon Musk finally completed his $44 billion Twitter takeover deal, firing the company’s CEO and financial chief and ending a lengthy tug-of-war with its board of directors just before a key deadline, according to a source close to the situation. Musk took the struggling social network private late Thursday, ousting Chief Executive Parag Agrawal and Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal, according to the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity. It wasn’t immediately clear who would replace them.... (more)

ANN COULTER — After months of warning you about the GOP's chronic overconfidence problem, now I'm feeling overconfident! Inasmuch as I will be giving a speech at my alma mater, Cornell University, the day after the election, I'm about to do something very stupid: make an election prediction. My reasoning is, here we are, three weeks from the election, and this week, two major polls, Harvard Harris and Times Sienna, suddenly show Republicans gaining ground. This triggered a primordial memory from the 1980 election, the first presidential race I paid attention to.... (more)

MIRANDA DEVINE — “Biden-Fetterman 2024” was the assessment of one wag on Twitter after the car-crash debate performance of John Fetterman, the Democrats’ stroke-damaged Senate candidate in Pennsylvania. “In 2022, a debate performance like [Fetterman’s] can accurately be called ‘presidential,’ ” quipped another. YOUTUBE — Elon Musk has shared a bizarre video of himself carrying a kitchen sink into Twitter's San Francisco headquarters. “Entering Twitter HQ – let that sink in," the billionaire tweeted on Wednesday (26 October), as he closes in on a $44 billion purchase of the company. After much back-and-forth, a Delaware judge told the SpaceX and Tesla CEO that he had until 28 October to complete the purchase. VICTOR DAVIS HANSON — The Republicans were always going to win big in November, regardless of what biased pundits professed. There was likely never a sudden “blue resurgence” or “red collapse” of late summer. Those fantasies were mostly Democratic Party talking points. They were readily regurgitated by the fusion media and biased pollsters. The ruse was transparently designed to dampen conservative turnout and fundraising, while fueling interparty squabbling over supposedly “unelectable MAGA candidates.”... (more)

TRISTAN JUSTICE — Fox News’ Tucker Carlson railed against former House staffer Evan McMullin Friday night as a “liberal Democrat” masquerading in a red state Senate race as an independent. “Utah is a conservative highly Republican state,” Carlson said in his opening prime-time monologue. “Evan McMullin has the same politics and worldview as Pete Buttigieg. He is running as a liberal Democrat. But he’s not running as a liberal Democrat, and that’s the key to success this year.”... (more)

FiveThirtyEight.com projects Lee has a 93% chance of winning, since pollsters tend to underestimate conservative voters
DESERET NEWS — The U.S. Senate race between Sen. Mike Lee and Evan McMullin is a rough-and-tumble slugfest. Campaign activities are generating arguments among politicos over polling, negative ads, superPACs and all the other campaign stuff hacks like us enjoy. We share the fun. Both campaigns have revealed results of internal polling to show their candidate ahead. The Utah Debate Commission/Lighthouse Research survey showed Lee ahead 48%-37% with 5% undecided. Last week’s Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics poll added fuel to the fire, showing the race essentially tied (Lee 36%, McMullin 34%, 16% undecided). What does this polling puzzle say about the race?... (more)

'They are dismantling the most fabulous nation on earth right before your eyes,' Levin told viewers
FOX NEWS — "Life, Liberty & Levin" host Mark Levin issued a stark warning to voters on his show Sunday about the future of the country if Republicans do not regain control of Congress in next month's midterm elections. 'He can't handle the media. His policies are failing. His handlers can't protect him'
WORLDNETDAILY — A “trapped” President Joe Biden could end up dragging Democrats down, Fox Business host Stuart Varney claimed Friday. “The President visited Pennsylvania. His handlers tried the basement strategy. Didn’t work,” Varney said. “They couldn’t keep him away from reporters. He lost his temper when he was asked about his limited campaign appearances. He went out on a limb on abortion and snapped at a reporter about that, too. But the President, he’s really trapped.”... (more)
