WORLDNETDAILY — U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, has proposed legislation that would designate funds confiscated from convicted drug lord Joaquin Guzman for border wall construction. To which El Chapo's lawyer, Jeffrey Lichtman, scoffed. "Sen. Cruz surely knows that the government has seized none -- not a penny -- of Mr. Guzman's assets so getting him to pay for the wall is ludicrous," the lawyer said, according to CNN. "There's a better chance of Mr. Cruz paying for the wall."... (more)

NATIONAL REVIEW — The "we reported the Jussie Smollett case responsibly" contention has been blasted to smithereens. Twitter accounts and headlines in the Washington Post, the New York Times, and the Los Angeles Times reported as fact Jussie Smollett's wildly implausible allegations, and many other journalists did so as well, not to mention the innumerable activists and celebrities who piled on. So, a question for all of the above. Why did you believe Jussie Smollett? Let's try to catalogue the red flags.... (more)

BYRON YORK — When someone says, "I'm a glass half-full person," that means he or she tries to look on the positive side of any situation, even if the reality is mixed. In the case of border security and the spending bill passed by Congress, it would be hard, from the administration's point of view, to call it a "glass half-full" result, given that President Trump won just $1.375 billion of the $5.7 billion he asked Congress to appropriate for a border barrier.... BRYAN FISCHER — Most people have no idea where the theory of evolution came from. They think scientists made discoveries that led them to doubt the Bible's view of origins. But it was the other way round. Men first began to doubt and then dismiss the Bible in the early part of the 19th century. So they needed to find some other explanation for, well, everything. And presto-change-o, Darwin popped out his theory of natural selection in 1859.... (more)

PETER LEMISKA — The idea of Medicare for all, as proposed by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Kamala Harris, and many others on the left, sounds amazing. They're a little vague on details, but as I understand it, everyone on U.S. soil, whether they pay into the system or not, would be entitled to free quality healthcare from birth until death. That would include rich and poor, healthy and infirm, young and old, citizen and non-citizen alike. There would be no exemptions, no carveouts, like there were for Obamacare. After all, who would want to be exempt from a dream program like that? And all of it would be administered by the government and funded by taxes on the wealthy.... (more)

WASHINGTON TIMES — President Trump says he made his point – the U.S. needs a border wall, and he will build it with or without Congress. That's less than one-fourth of the $5.7 billion that he demanded initially for a wall.... (more)
