SELWYN DUKE — "It is a maxim among these lawyers, that whatever hath been done before may legally be done again: and therefore they take special care to record all the decisions formerly made against common justice and the general reason of mankind. These, under the name of precedents, they produce as authorities, to justify the most iniquitous opinions; and the judges never fail of decreeing accordingly." So said Anglo-Irish essayist Jonathan Swift in Gulliver's Travels in 1726. Unfortunately, something has changed almost three centuries later:... (more)

WORLDNETDAILY — It's the network most frequently referenced by President Trump as "fake news," and as with his Republican primary opponents, the label may have something to do with its decline in popularity. The RedState blog noted Friday that CNN's town hall with Democratic presidential candidate Beto O'Rourke on Tuesday averaged a paltry 714,000 total viewers and 194,000 in the key 25-54 demo. That means it came in third for both categories during 10-11:15 p.m. Eastern Time hour, according to early Nielsen Media Research.... (more)

SEN. TOM COTTON — The story of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier begins on the battlefields of Europe as the guns fell silent on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918. The American Expeditionary Forces had proved decisive in World War I, the Great War that would shape so much of the coming century. But despite its late entry, the AEF lost more than 116,000 troops. Thanks in part to the recent introduction of identification tags, though, fewer than two thousand remained unidentified. Thus, for the first time the nation faced the question of how to handle large numbers of identified remains in an overseas war.... (more)

VICTOR DAVIS HANSON — The entire Trump-Russia collusion narrative was always implausible. JERRY NEWCOMBE — The goal of the new, strict Alabama abortion law is to potentially overturn Roe v. Wade. The law would penalize abortion doctors, and it contains no exception clauses, except for the life and health of the mother. NATIONAL REVIEW — A New York Times op-ed yesterday exemplified the abortion-rights movement's Orwellian effort to redefine the terms of the abortion debate and obscure the reality of what takes place in abortion procedures. Abortion Saves Lives." was the headline of the piece written by Warren Hern, one of the country's most prominent practitioners of late-term abortions, including elective abortions past the point at which a fetus is able to survive outside his or her mother....
