THE FEDERALIST — To say that contemporary Western culture is not family-friendly would be something of an understatement. Rather, it’s positively hostile to families. Whether it’s popular entertainment, schools, politicians, or even one’s neighbors, parents and their children are regularly pushed into terminal dysfunction. Virtue is derided while vices are celebrated; confusion and contradiction frequently overwhelm decency and common sense; and the feeling of optimism and commitment to excellence is now smothered by widespread anxiety and nihilism. As one would expect in such an environment, marriage and birth rates continue to plummet with little hope of recovering.... (more)

CLIFF KINCAID — Congress is back in session on January 8 and a government-shutdown deadline is weeks away. Funding for Ukraine and Israel and securing the border are major issues. But there is another major issue: the consolidation of a communist dictatorship in the United States if “Special Counsel” Jack Smith is allowed to continue his persecution of former President Trump, persecution that subverts our system of free and fair elections.... JERRY NEWCOMBE — History is filled with people who quit too early, and thus never fulfilled their key task in life. With a new year upon us, it’s good to think about how God pours His blessings on those who persist. Even when facing adversity, when the time comes, they push forward with what they feel He has called them to do. Of course, in the eight Beatitudes of Jesus (“Blessed are…”), He never said, “Blessed are the persistent.” But throughout the Bible, we do find encouragements to press on, to keep plugging away at doing the right thing.... WORLDNETDAILY — Back in the good ol' days, Western nations were democratic and politicians were voted into office to protect the interests of the people. Their job was to defend national borders, secure citizens' rights, provide justice, and guard national resources from outside predators.... (more)

PJ MEDIA — Democrat strategists and talking heads were gobsmacked to see so many working-class people vote for Donald Trump in 2016. In fact, part of the mercenary decision to run Joe from Scranton against Trump in 2020 was the cynical calculation that he would be able to recapture those blue-collar Democrat party defectors.... WESTERN JOURNAL — Former National Institutes of Health Director Francis Collins has admitted that tunnel vision handicapped the development of public policy to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. Collins, who stepped down at the end of 2021, was the superior of former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Anthony Fauci, who along with Collins proposed and supported lockdowns as the major policy element to deal with the pandemic.... WORLDNETDAILY — Former President Donald Trump's sprawling Mar-a-Lago estate boasts high ceilings. During the holidays, it also features a towering Christmas tree. With the former president's son Barron in attendance, however, anything tall seems to pale in comparison. On Tuesday, a Trump family photo in front of the Mar-a-Lago Christmas tree went viral and prompted a number of comments about 17-year-old Barron's astonishing height.... (more)

JERRY NEWCOMBE — The idea of the United States as an independent nation was saved by an unusual act on Christmas night in 1776. It was a battle, and God in His providence helped America in one more step toward becoming free. Such was the belief of the leader of this effort, the commander of the Continental Army, George Washington.... (more)

THE FEDERALIST — If it wasn’t obvious before now that the left will do anything to stop Donald Trump from winning a second term in the White House, the events of the last few days should leave no doubt in any American’s mind. Democrats, including President Biden, are prepared not only to rig the 2024 election in broad daylight, but also to twist the U.S. Constitution and undermine the republic so they can hold onto power.... DAVID KUPELIAN — It was Dec. 21, 2016, the darkest day of the year. I was working in my garage, trying to repair something using a hacksaw. It was cold. I was sawing strenuously and at an uncomfortable angle. I was tired, stressed and a little frustrated. Suddenly I felt a strange and complex pain radiating through my chest, something I had never experienced before. I stopped working and gave the pain my full attention, but it didn't subside. I went into the house and told my wife, Jean, to stay close by, because "I might be having a heart attack."... (more)

FOX NEWS — Former Attorney General Ed Meese has presented arguments to the Supreme Court that they should reject Special Counsel Jack Smith’s requests because he was unconstitutionally appointed in the first place. Meese, along with law professors Steven G. Calabresi and Gary S. Lawson, filed a friend-of-the-court brief Wednesday to present the case that Attorney General Merrick Garland’s appointment of Smith — a private citizen — is in violation of the Appointments Clause of the Constitution.... JERRY NEWCOMBE — I once asked my grandchildren, “What were the first Christmas gifts?” And one of the grandchildren showed she was on the right track...up to a point. The answer she gave was “The first Christmas gifts were given by the wise men, and they gave to the Baby Jesus ‘Gold, Frankenstein, and myrrh.’” Out of the mouth of babes.... (more)
