Why I Don't Read Books

Postby Deplorable MEh » July 29th, 2020, 10:05 pm

There is a reason why I don't read books anymore. I bought Michael and Jeff Shaara books. I figured watching the movies Gettysburg and Gods and Generals pretty much sums it up.

There's something about motion pictures that books can't compete with.

If I were to read a book about the movie Harvey, then I'd be missing out on Jimmy Stewart's fine acting.

When movies replaced books we messed up on one thing. The accuracy of storytelling word for word versus scene by scene. A 400 page book can tell more than a 2 hour movie. Pictures are not worth 1000 words unless you are talking about a documentary. Documentaries are the best because they bring history to life.

So, the reason I don't want to read books especially illustrated ones is because I am more into the audio/video thing. I was raised not knowing Who Dr. Seuss is and I didn't care. I learned about Shel Silverstein 7 years ago but I could care less now.
I'm the controller of my destiny. I'm the master of my fate. I will fight with words all tyranny. I will guard against the state.
