Christmas and abortion -- the oil and water of our generation

In a few days we will observe Christmas for 2012. For many Americans this Christmas is just a bit sadder than previous years. The terrible event that took place in an elementary school in Connecticut has sobered the season, and surely, no one who has heard of it, has not been emotionally moved in some way.

A writer in Poland took a great deal of criticism when he likened the abortions in that country to the lost children in the Sandy Hook School. Long before I heard of the Polish writers remarks I said this in my last article entitled, "Sandy Hook Shooting: Let's Dump the Psychological Doubletalk."

"Be it Sandy Hook or Roe v. Wade — is deciding that some human beings will not be allowed to take their first breath — any less horrid than deciding which ones should take their last?"

Yes, I do believe that if we banned the doctor's saline solutions, needles, forceps and scalpels found in America's abortion clinics we would save more lives than banning guns. Sixty million lives lost to abortion since 1973 is the proof that my math is correct.

I never would believe that in my lifetime I would have to compare one of the worst tragedies in our history to another equally horrible thing to make a point. But the point is made — and the point stands.

Taking away children is never OK with God whether it is done by a crazed person in a school or a doctor in a sterile abortion clinic. Why can't we see this?

God wants to give us children not take them away. Our refusal to receive them as great gifts of life is the surest indication that our nation is in serious decline along with the rest of the world.

"Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth." (Psalm 127: 3, 4)

God's introduction of a child as a gift is clearly seen in his own birth and the attending proclamations accompanying it provided by angels, prophets, wise men and humble shepherds.

The forces of evil have always tried to curb or completely stop the introduction of new life, but never more so than today.

The mighty Prophet Isaiah said "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." (Isa 9: 6)

Until that promised day when Christ will re-enter the history of man and assume the throne to rule over the nations, the message, the reminder and the hope of mankind has been announced, not by the removal of children, but by the introduction of one very special child.

Not just a child in a manger he was God in the flesh. Not just another prophet, but the very Savior of the world. God introduced the very 'way the truth and the life '(John 14: 6) by giving this world a child, not by taking one away. When will we see this?

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given"
