Ten thousand times brighter than the Star of Bethlehem

Having been to the moon once, we are now confident that the rest of the universe is only a quantum leap ahead – if there were any quantum leaps to be had.

But history has proven that men are traveling through the medium of time not the vast expanse of space – all men, throughout all time. It is an equation that a child can deduce. There is no argument.

Haphazardly and mostly blind, we hope to see a bright portent, a perfect sign, and a light to guide us to the endless tomorrows we all suspect that await us.

We know of the star that was given to point out where the Savior of mankind was to be laid in a manager.

It was not just a babe in the manger that caused us to hope, but very idea of God in a baby. It was Mary placing her child, not in a crib, but in the center of the universe.

His presence in the universe did not change the place of the stars and planets, but it did change the times. The great parenthetical age or what we sometimes call the mystery age had begun. It is not so mysterious today knowing that God always intended to take plenty of time to gather his people together. The huge number of souls seen standing before God in the last day – is proof enough.

We not only missed the purpose of Christ's birth, but like so many other events we fail to discern the timing of the event and its full meaning.

We missed the "fullness of time" (Ga 4: 4) when one language, Greek, one means of travel, Roman roads and one people, the Jews, were pointing us away from dumb idols to a single creator God.

The Jews missed the time of their "visitation" (Lk 19: 44) and the gentiles were rebuked for not knowing the "signs of the times" they were living in. (Mt 16: 3)

The modern world will complain that too much time has been allotted for God to finish things up and they would begin to doubt.

"Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation." (2Pet 3: 3-4)

Adding to the problem of good discernment is the fact that the "god of this world" (Satan) spends a great deal of time confusing the time so men will be out of step with the times.

"In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." (2Cor 4: 4)

The old deceiver keeps the world unaware that in Christ's time he fulfilled hundreds of Messianic prophecies about his first coming. Those prophecies were about his lineage, his nature, his manner of death and the meaning of his death. He fulfilled all of the prophecies against staggering odds.

It is happening all over again.

Almost a quarter of the Bible has to do with the second coming of Christ. But the entire world has not noticed that in one generation dozens of the prophetic signs have been fulfilled. The re-establishment of the nation of Israel in 1948, the re-taking of Jerusalem in 1967 and the recent call by President Trump to implement the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 are all staring us in the face.

But who is discerning the time.

If our perception of time is not corrected we stand to lose an eternity. That is a new time, without end.

The new time does not end with the very end of the world, but rather it is the time when Christ re-enters our world and ends the rule of man.

It is a re-entry that will outshine the brilliance of the ancient Star of Bethlehem by ten thousand times.

He will appear with all the believers from throughout the ages, the angels and above all – the glory of God. The sun will be darkened and the moon will be glowing blood red. Men will be stunned by their own un-belief as he descends from the sky for the entire world to see.

There will be no obscure manger in a little town, but a worldwide event so amazing that this time – time will stand still.

"For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works." (Mt 16 27)
