Pledge To Impeach: will you sign it?

Earlier this week, I saw an interview Michele Bachmann did with Ginni Thomas. In it, she observed that Barack Obama has committed impeachable offenses, but that the impeachment process cannot proceed without public support.
Bachmann's insight is the key to understanding the Pledge To Impeach strategy I believe is the only effective way to bridle Obama's effort to scrap the U.S. Constitution and establish dictatorial rule in the United States. The famous system of checks and balances has broken down, mainly because a corrupted party system is producing election results unconnected with any thought or intention of representing the people.
This week, I read a description of the relations between the two major political parties in India that came close to describing the collusion that now prevails between the elitist faction GOP leaders and the Obama faction Democrats:
"There is a certain, and now growing, sense in India that the BJP [Bharatiya Janata Party] and the Congress [party] work best together. They have the same economic and foreign policies, they differ only slightly on domestic issues, and by and large appear to be natural partners who like to remain on opposite sides so that the opposition space is not occupied entirely by the regional parties. There have been several instances in the past when the two have come together to bail each out of tough situations inside Parliament, and their leaders are the first to admit that when they are in serious trouble in the legislature they first look at each other for help" (italics added).
Here we have two supposedly opposed parties that are actually in essential agreement in most respects. They maintain the facade of contention "so that the opposition space is not occupied...by the regional parties." In the U.S. context, this latter purpose applies perfectly to the GOP. The Republican Party now exists to maintain the appearance of competition so that "the opposition space" in American politics is not occupied by the conservative grassroots movement now identified by the tea party label.
As I've pointed out at length in a series of essays for my blog, this two-party sham entirely defeats the purpose of the American constitutional system, in which representation is vital to achieving the desired result. The intended result is a stable government, capable of defending the peace and order of society without tyrannically suppressing the liberty of the people. The system of checks and balances contributes to that result, but it only operates effectively in an environment shaped by what the founders called a "due dependence on the people."
By creating the illusion of choice, but without regard to any result that really represents a large chunk of the voters, the sham party system eliminates this "due dependence." There are no longer occasional moves by the people (realignments) aimed at disrupting the collusion of powerful elites bent on total control. This has gone on for so long that those elites (I call them the elitist faction) are poised to consolidate a regime for government that tramples on and discards foundational ideas like unalienable rights and due process of law, in favor of dictatorial fiat (Obama's executive orders) and the elimination of intermediary institutions like the God-endowed natural family and a robust, entrepreneurial middle class.
A basis still exists for restoring the political initiative of the American people so as to disrupt this elitist collusion and restore the people to their proper position as the arbiters of political power under the U.S. Constitution. In a multitude of ways, Barack Obama has made clear his destructive, dictatorial intentions. Many Americans have been awakened to the truth I saw early on, that his idea of change involves destroying America's liberty. Quietly a tide is rising in favor of taking the necessary constitutional steps to remove the danger by impeaching and removing Obama and his cohorts from office. But since the GOP's leadership has been and is acting in collusion with Obama, they refuse to provide a rallying point for this sentiment.
But with today's instruments of communication and mutual encouragement, people can organize amongst themselves with relative ease. This is the idea behind the Pledge to Impeach effort. A growing number of senators and congressional representatives are speaking out against Obama's lawlessness; his abuse of executive power; his all too obvious dictatorial predilections. But they will not be emboldened to act without a strong, visible public demand for action.
The Pledge To Impeach website has been created to make possible that strong, visible show of support. It's absurdly easy. Just go to the site, and sign the petition that expresses the demand. As the number of petition signers rises, the strength and visibility of the demand will rise. To make sure it does so, spread the word to your friends, to like-minded fellow workers and worshipers, to get them to visit the site and sign on. With tools many people have readily available, with relatively little expenditure of time and money, you could become part of the grassroots initiative that circumvents the illusory party sham that has, for the moment, hijacked America's politics.
Nothing stands in your way except the shackles of the mind that are, in the end, the most effective bonds of tyranny. As I have confirmed from hard experience, even though they are largely invisible, these shackles are of such adamantine strength that they have been the mainstay of almost every tyrannical regime in human history. The American mind was once peculiarly immune to them, on any large scale. Is there left in us some vestige of that immunity? Will it prove strong enough to overcome the effects of the political AIDS virus that has left our polity prey to opportunistic, lawless ambition and greed?
The answer is in our own hands. Will you do nothing? Or will you visit pledgetoimpeach.com and have the large courage to take a small step that could add up to a renewal of hope for America's liberty?
