PHILIP KLEIN — In 2015, when a desperate President Obama decided to implement a deal with Iran in the face of fierce Republican opposition Congress (and even some Democratic defections), he was taking a gamble. The thinking was: either a pro-Iran deal Democrat wins the presidency in 2016 and keeps it in place, or the deal becomes so entrenched that even a Republican president wouldn't have the guts to pull out.... WASHINGTON TIMES — The #MeToo movement has ensnared a number of Democrats despite their seemingly impeccable records on women's rights. But nothing quite compares to the freefall of former New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman. Not only was Mr. Schneiderman a flag-flying feminist, but he had positioned himself at the forefront of the fight against sexual harassment, filing a lawsuit just three months ago against disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.... WASHINGTON TIMES — Thousands of supporters of Iranian opposition groups rallied just blocks from the White House on Saturday for the downfall of Tehran's theocratic government and to invite President Trump to "rip up" the Iran nuclear deal. The rally came one week before Mr. Trump's May 12 deadline to decide whether to pull out of the Obama-era Iranian nuclear deal that saw the U.S., Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China ease sanctions on Tehran in exchange for limits to its nuclear program. Mr. Trump has criticized the 2015 accord since it took effect.... (more)

Michael Flynn didn't intentionally mislead them. ANDREW C. MCCARTHY — 'How do you know Trump's not a suspect?" I've been hearing that question a lot these days. News reports indicate that Special Counsel Robert Mueller may try to coerce President Trump's testimony by issuing a grand-jury subpoena if the president does not agree to a "voluntary" interview. That has sparked a public debate over the question of whether Mueller, an inferior executive officer, has such authority to strong-arm the chief executive -- the official in whom the Constitution reposes all executive power, including the power that Mueller exercises only as long as the president permits it.... WASHINGTON TIMES — A long-awaited report on free speech protections at the University of California, Berkeley, blames "hard to defend" conservative speakers for inciting left-wing students to violence. A commission of Berkeley faculty, students formed in 2017 after violent and costly student protests called its commitment to free speech into question. Their months-long study of the issue resulted in the conclusion that "ultra-conservative rhetoric" by the likes of Milo Yiannopoulos and Ann Coulter only exists to "advance a facile narrative that universities are not tolerant of conservative speech."...
