The choice we face is not 'between Trump and Hillary'
ALAN KEYES — I often hear the argument that the 2016 election is a binary election, offering no choice but Trump or Clinton. If neither of the candidates represents you, this "binary" choice is no election at all. Yet representation is the defining practical goal of the U.S. Constitution. Turning voters into quantities that must go one way or another, according to the programming of an elitist clique that has abandoned America's common good, reduces human beings to irresponsible objects, doomed to follow the dictates of their master programmers.... MIKE LEE — In "Our Lost Constitution", Senator Mike Lee tells the dramatic, little-known stories behind six of the Constitution's most indispensable provisions. He shows their rise. He shows their fall. And he makes vividly clear how nearly every abuse of federal power today is rooted in neglect of this Lost Constitution. Examined are the Origination Clause, the Legislative Powers Clause, the Establishment Clause, the Balance of Powers and the Second and Fourth Amendments. Each has been used at some time in our Nation's history by shortsighted opportunists to defy the Constitution's safeguards to liberty.... (more)

DAVID FRENCH — The dominoes are falling -- as we knew they would. On Friday, Ted Cruz endorsed Donald Trump, just weeks after a mic-dropping moment at the Republican National Convention, where he pointedly refused to endorse the man who insulted his wife and accused his father of conspiring to kill JFK. Instead, in the face of a chorus of boos, he urged delegates to vote their conscience. The implication was clear – a conservative of conscience should not support Trump.... (more)

ANDREW C. MCCARTHY — In a time when "narrative" has supplanted factual reporting, Fox's Bret Baier's evening news program is usually an oasis in the desert. So I winced when he asserted, amid Thursday's report on the deadly Charlotte rioting -- euphemized by the media as "unrest" and "protest" -- that blacks are significantly more likely than whites to be killed by police.... HEAT STREET — Violence again erupted overnight in Charlotte, North Carolina, following a police shooting that left an armed black man dead.
