WASHINGTON TIMES — The chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence is pushing to hold Attorney General Jeff Sessions in contempt of Congress this week for not complying with a subpoena. Rep. Devin Nunes, California Republican, sent a letter to the Justice Department requesting classified information for his committee's investigation into abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and counterintelligence inquiries, including the targeting of Americans such as former Trump campaign official Carter Page, but the letter was ignored.... WASHINGTON TIMES — Thousands of supporters of Iranian opposition groups rallied just blocks from the White House on Saturday for the downfall of Tehran's theocratic government and to invite President Trump to "rip up" the Iran nuclear deal. The rally came one week before Mr. Trump's May 12 deadline to decide whether to pull out of the Obama-era Iranian nuclear deal that saw the U.S., Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China ease sanctions on Tehran in exchange for limits to its nuclear program. WASHINGTON TIMES — Fired FBI Director James Comey has repeatedly denied during his book tour that he ever testified that FBI agents concluded that retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn didn't intentionally mislead them. That adamant assertion came into question Friday night when the Republican majority on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence released portions of Mr. Comey's closed-door testimony. News reports indicate that Special Counsel Robert Mueller may try to coerce President Trump's testimony by issuing a grand-jury subpoena if the president does not agree to a "voluntary" interview. That has sparked a public debate over the question of whether Mueller, an inferior executive officer, has such authority to strong-arm the chief executive -- the official in whom the Constitution reposes all executive power, including the power that Mueller exercises only as long as the president permits it.... WASHINGTON TIMES — A long-awaited report on free speech protections at the University of California, Berkeley, blames "hard to defend" conservative speakers for inciting left-wing students to violence. A commission of Berkeley faculty, students formed in 2017 after violent and costly student protests called its commitment to free speech into question. Their months-long study of the issue resulted in the conclusion that "ultra-conservative rhetoric" by the likes of Milo Yiannopoulos and Ann Coulter only exists to "advance a facile narrative that universities are not tolerant of conservative speech."...
